I found the site through a friend of mine who helps with the rescue organization I work with, The Cincinnati Pit Crew.
This is Diesel, a 3 legged butt head. He's stubborn, mouthy, obnoxious, stinky, likes to steal things, pee's whenever he feels like it...... but I love him.
His story you ask? He was brought into our local SPCA with a broken leg at the rough age of 4 months. Upon further inspection it was found that the wound was old and surgery was not a suitable option for him. So..... he gained admittance into the "tripawd" ranks.
His previous foster didn't do much for his temperament and left him unchecked for months and he began biting everyone and everything. As they were expecting a baby soon, they returned him to the organization and with no where to go he was placed in boarding. This didn't help the situation any as he sat for months waiting for a strong home to open up for him.
After a few months I finally adopted out my previous trouble maker and took on the arduous task that is Diesel. He never had anyone stand up to him before. He had never met an alpha and thought he ruled everything and everyone. We butted heads for a long time. We still do quite often..... but he's learning to coexist now. He's curbed a lot of his issues including aggression, but he's still working toward being an all around "adoptable" dog.
I've given him my word that I'll stick with him as long as it takes, no matter what. And I mean it..... no matter what.
Ohhhhhh bravo! What a great story! Thanks so much for taking time to share it. Boy can we realte, we have a similar story with tripawds spokesdawg Wyatt Ray (see http://tripawds.....ormoments/ ). I know that when all is said and done you and Diesel will have a bond like no other.
Thanks for joining us here we look forward to your adventures!

He's the current edition of our little miracle. He should have been euthanized at the SPCA, but for some reason they picked up the phone and called the organization I foster for. Pit bull mix, showing aggression with immediate medical needs..... yeah that's a death sentence normally.
He is blessed.
So far today he's stolen Doug (the stuffed animal version of the dog from the movie Up), poo'd in the hallway, thrown up on the bed and gotten into the trash in the bathroom..... and its only 945am.
Another day in the life of Diesel aka Ninja Pooper.
Oy vey sorry for the incoherent post earlier, I was on my phone.
He is definitely your challenge dog! Well we've had our share of craziness with our Wyatt so we can relate. Wyatt came from a similarly bad situation and has a great heart but lots of challenges.
Meantime if you haven't already checked out Leerberg training videos I really suggest doing so (especially their Dominant and Aggressive Dogs DVD). We knew about Leerberg when we first got Wyatt but we thought we would try other training methods first. Well, five years later we are back at square one and starting over with their methods. In just over a week of implementing their techniques (we started with Basic Dog Obedience to get comfortable with their training foundation steps, then we'll move on to the Dominant & Aggressive Dogs video), we are already seeing a difference in our relationship with him and also how he handles being near other dogs and busy situations. Their methods aren't for everyone or every dog but I'm pretty sure this would be right up your alley and perfect for Diesel.

This just warms my heart like yo woldn't believe!! Clearly, you two were meant to be togeher!
And that picture.....OMD!! What a handsome boy with such a bright soul just oozing out of him!! Look at that face! LOOK AT THAT FACE!! Personality written all over him!
I'm glad you made that promise to him...about stickng byhim as slong as it takes. I sorta' have a feeling Diesel has maybe, just maybe, fo d a forever ho e! I kow, right nw you're saying, "NO! Heck no!" But onec a tripawd steps to your heart...once you see all the lessons THEY are teaching YOU about courage, determinion, getting on with life no matter what, overcoming any obstacle put in their path and never losng their zest flr life......they are or heros forever!
His stubbornness, strong will and being "alpha" are probavly the very traits he needed to survive. Once he learns he doesn't need all those "quirks" anymore, that he nas a human who will stick by him no matter what (you are a Saint by te way!), maybe some of these things will disappear! Or maybe not!
Diesel, you leave Doug alone! He's one of your new best friends! No pooping in tne hose ad no trash.....at least none of these "quirks" befor noon!!
Look forward to hearing more about your journey AND more pictures!! Definitely more pictures!!
And standng ovation to you "mom"! REALLY! You are a very special soul willing to help Diesel become more of who he was born to be! Hang in there! This is going to be .....er.......hmm......-FUN!!
Hugs to you both and a band aid for Doug!

He has worked hard today to learn "kennel" so that he goes in. I would use the descriptive term "right" in front of in..... but that would be a lie. He likes being chased around the house before randomly darting into the kennel to receive his praise.
I believe you guys are right.... he's extra stubborn to have made it this far. I'm going to work with him for as long as it takes to get him adopted. We absolutely fell in love with my last foster dog and nearly failed with him. We are meant to be fosters. This is the roll we've accepted as we are good at rehabilitating them. My first foster was a fail, then I had success with two problematic dogs within 6 months. Diesel is my 4th foster in what hopefully turns out to be a long line of success stories for years to come. I enjoy the psychological aspect of rehabilitating them. The obedience is another thing.... *LOL*
I'm a foster dad... not mom. I know the name throws it off, but its just the way it is. *LOL* My wife is as into the dogs as I am, but I do most of the training.
Here's a pic of Diesel....
Hi Max,
You sound like a determined guy! You guys who foster amaze me- in my mind I would fail every time . Actually it is something I would like to try when I retire and can spend more time at home.
I have pugs although currently no Tri-pug. Each pug has been special needs in one way or another and I find it really rewarding to work with them. Sometimes I find myself wishing for a 'normal' dog (if such a thing exists) but I do like a challenge.
Good luck with Diesel. I hope you stick around and tell his story here, and let us share in his progress.

p.s. I read your profile- 3 tours in Iraq! Thank you for your service!!
Tri-pug Maggie survived a 4.5 year mast cell cancer battle only to be lost to oral melanoma.

THAT FACE!! Those bright beautiful eyes! He has mischief written all over him! I just love this picture! He seems to really capture themjoy he feels st just being alive!
Keep 'em coming!
Good job!
And yes, thank you for your service.

We work diligently with him daily. He has his good days and bad. Yesterday was a very bad day. We've found that he needs strong structure. He needs his time to relax in his kennel and decompress. He pee'd in the house 5 times yesterday out of spite for us. Today he did it once to me after I asked him to go his kennel. He walked over to the dog bed and pee'd on it right next to me.
I love him to death. I do the same with all my fosters.
The pit bull breed gets such a bad rap and I had no clue until after my pibble/lab mix passed and I started looking for another to replace her with. Until a couple of weeks ago I had never even watched an episode of that one show.... you know.... the one that everyone rants and raves about. I can't stand it because it's scripted.
I love my pitties. I love them to death. I've felt the unconditional love that only a pittie can give. And I lost that far too early. Now I've devoted my efforts to pups like Diesel and others who have no hope. Who've been given an unfair shake just because someone dropped the "P" word on them at the shelter. And for them.... I may be their last chance so the least I can say is "no matter what" and put a face on that means it.
Diesel tries my patience on a daily basis. I've been given a gift that lets dogs understand me. They get that I'm here to help. I mean nothing but the best for them. Some push against me, some embrace the passion I have for them. In the end it's all about their rehabilitation. And to that end I've been given Diesel. He's an amazing soul who I try to help through all his troubles.... all his butt-headedness. All I have in return is tough love. Oh... and towels.... lots of towels.
Wow, you are one amazing soul! Diesel has fallen into the right hands, you are the person for the job!
Do you think the peeing in the house is because he's also marking, or just trying to get back at you in some way? I'm guessing he's neutered?
