Hi and welcome to Tripawds.
I read your story this morning but didn't have time to post. But I will say you got my day off to a good start- because there are people like you and your vet in this world who do what is right.
And I love the name- chocolate is the official food of my family.
Cocoa is luck to have you and you will be rewarded 1000 times over. She looks good in those pics. I was lucky when my pug Maggie had her left rear leg amputated- because of her buddha pug belly she couldn't reach her incision so no cone!
Sounds too like she is recovering well from the surgery- such a trooper. She must feel soooo much better with that broken leg gone.
I'm looking forward to hearing how your new pack sorts itself out- some pics of them together would be cool.

Wow what an amazing story. I think it's great to know that people like you and your vet are are out there willing to help a doggie in desperate need. You have such a big heart. Thank you for following your heart and just doing what you needed to do for Cocoa. Thank you sooo much for your compassion.
It sounds like Cocoa is already thanking you with lots of love and licks! I'm fairly new here myself and have learned a lot on this tripawds site. There is lots of love and support here.
Please keep us posted on Cocoa's recovery:)
we humans have a lot to learn from dogs: poor coco had a broken leg for a month? awwww i couldnt go 5 mins....
Mousie's leg was broken for 5 days before we could cut it off. we call it the zombie leg, it seemed to have a mind of its own, even though it was 'dead' to us. ha ha ha
The quest for world domination continues on three legs. Comply minions!

What an incredibly lovely story! Truly beautiful in so many respects: Cocoa finding you, you finding Cocoa, the vet who offered her services.
Well done. Enjoy every single moment of your journey together.
