Ugh cancer! Ok here's the thing: it sucks, no doubt, that the met is there. But like Sally pointed out, Booey is herself and doesn't care what the scans said. She's lovin' life on her terms!
Yep, our Jerry had mets that stabilized and allowed him to live beyond his prognosis, and many dogs have gone much longer than he did with mets. So they aren't always the end of the road.
Also, stay tuned for an interview with Jake's oncologist Dr. Britton, which will publish this week in Tripawds News. Jake has mets and she started him on an innovative chemotherapy protocol that is keeping Jake's mets from misbehaving.
Keep on following Booey's lead. She knows what to do right now and it's not sitting around feeling sad. Rock life on 3 legs with her as best you can, it's the most pawesome way to stick it to cancer!

Hi all,
I didn’t update after Boo’s last chemo appointment because she didn’t get any X-rays and everything seemed status quo. We went back today and they scanned her chest, and unfortunately the tumors in her lungs are not responding at all to the treatment. So we made the decision to stop the chemo and just enjoy the time we have left with her and make her as comfortable as possible. The onco did offer us some last ditch options for treatment, but she was also very honest in her assessment of those treatments and the relative unknown of their efficacy. We feel it’s unnecessary to put her through anything more. She had some GI discomfort and a decent amount of hair loss from the last round of chemo. Aside from that, she doesn’t seem to be in any pain and is eating and drinking normally again. So we’re hopeful we’ve got her through the holidays and into next year. She’s handling it all like a champion.
Okay, Boo is still a Champ at being Boo! And, as usual, as no interest in what xrays showed or did show.
You've always had her well being at the forefront of every decision. And to decide to do no more poin g or prodding or Vet visits is one I know she's thrilled you made.
FWIW, I also drew a line in the sand as to jow much "treatment t" I would continue to pursue for my Happy Hannah. There is definitely some freedom when you can focus on just being fully present and enjoy just "being" with your pup and all the joy's she has her to share.
Sending extra hugs and a plea for pictures!!!!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Oh man I'm sorry. Stupid cancer. I'm so sorry.
Your oncologist sounds wonderful. I love that she was so honest about any possible treatments. When you have support like that, it makes making the decision to stop treatment so much easier. You made that call with Booey's best interest in mind, and as much as it hurts to know that cancer isn't playing fair, at least now you can put the vet visits behind you and make the most of every day. There's something to be said for the freedom that it brings in your life. It's almost like it opens up even more space in your heart for really absorbing every moment of Booey's beautiful personality, every second you have together. She is so fortunate to have such great people looking after her.
For now, she's not thinking about the future. Follow her lead, she's the best teacher there is.
And I agree, more pictures!
P.S. Hair loss is one of those super rare chemo side effects in dogs. I'm sorry she went through that.

We said goodbye to our sweet girl this afternoon. Her condition deteriorated pretty quickly after stopping her chemo two weeks ago. I was not expecting it to happen so quickly, but I know we made the right decision not to let her suffer unnecessarily.
I’m so grateful that we found this community at the beginning of our journey. All the information and resources were so helpful and it’s been comforting to share throughout the process and read other’s stories.
Thanks all
Ohhh....so very, very sorry. This just breaks my heart to hear this. Just so sorry.
Every decision you ever made for Booey in thos joirney was ALWAYS with her best interest at heart. And the decision to release her from her failing earth clothes was yet another selfless loving act you gave her.
I know there eill be a very spec star in the sky tonight. One that will be sparkling brighter than all the others. Just as she surrounded you with her sparkling light every day here, she will cont to surround with her eternal bright light in the nighttime sky. Be sure and look for it. You'll know which one is hers.
When you can, you can PM myself or Jerry and we can make sure we get some phctu of sweet Boo posted here. May the memories of your time with Boo sustain you.
We are always here for you. Booey is family.
With love

I'm soooo sorry! Yes oh my gosh it happened way faster than anyone thought, it is just such a shock when cancer moves so fast.
Try to take comfort knowing you did right by a poet. She didn't suffer, she felt your forever love all the way through her transition. Putting aside the grief you were feeling to help her get her wings without suffering and feeling like the center of your universe (she was!) is the greatest gift.
Our hearts ache for you. If you want to share her photos, as Sally said we would be honored to put them here for you.
The winter stars are shining tonight but there is one so bright it has to be Booey. She is always with us.
