Please view Ari's story that was featured on the TV show Delmarva Life on August 27th! I have sent AKC many emails, including letters from my Vet, a letter from a Rally Judge, who critiqued Ari's Rally performances and has said "this dog is not lame and does not is not lacking in locomotion"! Ari is amazing, has wonderful balance and is welcome in my ring anytime"! Sylvia said she would have scored her a solid 1000% on one course and 98% on the other! I sent other letters from our Rally Trainer who is also and Agility Judge and also from folks who have know Ari and have trained with Ari. I uploaded my youtube channel with all Ari's videos from when she was a young pup up to and including the present!
I submitted my videos and letter to AKC approx. 3 weeks or so ago and haven't heard back from them. I would welcome some support from the Tripawd Community to get this ruling reversed to allow our wonderful Tripawds to compete in these not taxing events.
Several of my classmates said they refused to write letters for me because they no way would want to have to compete against Ari. Ari out performs all of them every class! She is a natural and LOVES it!
Thank you
Carolyn Baynes and the lovely Ari
Thanks for joining and sharing, Carolyn! As we spotlighted in Tripawd Tuesday last week, Ari is a fantastic agility dog and like all Tripawds, deserves a chance to participate in these AKC competitions.
Can you tell us where we should write to voice our displeasure at this rule? Who should we contact?
For now, it's my understanding that the North American Dog Agility Council allows Tripawds to compete, correct? What if anything do they have to say about allowing three-legged dogs in the ring?

Hi So just to let you know I am not looking to compete in Agility, I'm looking to compete in Rally. I am not well versed in NADAC's rules in regards to 3 - legged dogs and their restrictions. I am currently in contact with Diane Schultz at AKC her email address is on their website but here it is:
It would be great if a few folks could email and support this mission for the entire Tripawd Community!
Ohhh sorry, thanks for the clarification!

That's fine! I was misquoted in the heading of the story but if you watch the video and read the story it goes into the fact that I'm looking for Rally!
It's kinda interesting that I was getting no response from AKC for the last few weeks and I forwarded them the Delmarva Life interview that aired on the news a few days ago, and I've been getting emails galore over the weekend, even at 8pm tonight. So I think this interview has helped to get them working on this issue! I am hoping to have a resolution before AKC takes away their Virtual Novice and Intermediate Titles which is supposed to end at the end of the year.
Oh I hope that interview opens the door to the possibility of allowing Tripawds! Thanks for the pupdate.

Ari is just wonderful! Thank you for sharing her video. She's an inspiration for tripawds!
Hugs ❤ Bev, nurse Moe cat, Autumn's Angel Roane & Angel dog Gypsy 🐾
My sweet soulmate Roane was diagnosed with osteo in June of 2019. Had a rear leg amp on July 2nd & crossed the rainbow bridge to be with her sister Gypsy on the first day of Autumn Sept 23 2019.
Such an impressive video! You have a Champion of a dog right there! First place winner in our hearts! ❤❤ Excellent job! Beautiful bond! Warms my heart to hear this story.
I know it's hard for a front legger to move at a slower pace like that. They need a faster pace for their balance and for momentum to balance the force among all three legs. So to see Ari go through all the paces seemingly effortlessly is amazing.
To be a tripawd from basically ten weeks, all while joints, bones, etc are forming and growing....WOW! Your commitment to giving him a fit and Happy life from the start is wonderful. I'm sure you've done massive amounts of research on how to keep a tripawd''s joints as healthy and arthritis free as long as possible. As you already know, wear and tear obviously are always a concern. Wiith proper core strength building, limiting excessive and lengthy activities that pound that front leg and cause overuse strain etc, your sweet Ari has a bright and long future ahead of him!
Just wanted to cheer you on and hope yiu'll keep us posted. Again, great interview and way to show the world a tripawd can do anything!!
Hugs

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
thank you all for your wonderfully kind words of support! Ari and I are doing this for all of you and hope down the line that every tripawd has the chance to do what they love to do. A good friend of mine just received some disturbing news about his health and he told me that he is going to handle this news like Ari has handled her loss of limb! He's gonna get on with life and stop whining! I have to admit to shedding a tear or two...it was so heartwarming to hear that my pup has helped him to put his fears aside and move on! He has known Ari since I rescued her and has watched her grow up! I know this is the real reason Ari is here on earth! Rally is secondary and we can't wait for the hospitals to open back up since Ari is a registered Therapy Dog and is raring to go and start visiting! I can't imagine life without her...and to think I was going to rehome her! What was i thinking?????? lol!!
Oh gosh! Your story of how Ari has inspired your friend toget on with living life to the fullest!! To know that Ari has touched him that way is yet another testament to how special your precious Ari is.
Without question, Ari is impacting loves and shall continue to do so! He's already a "therapy dog" for anyone who has the pleasure of knowing him.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful Soul with us. Without question, you two were born to share this earth journey together and we are so excited to be part of his journey.
And let your friend know he now has Ari's Tripawd Family sending pawsitive healing energy his way.. And that's a lot of powerful energy! Tell him to continue to use Ari has his role model for living in the NOW.

Hi! Just to let you all know, Ari and I were successful in having the AKC reverse their restrictions with regards to 3 legged dogs competing in Obedience and Rally Trials!! Please see below:
APPENDIX A Section 4. Dogs that May Enter.
The following dogs may enter Virtual Obedience events:
- Any dog that has been surgically altered to correct a congenital or hereditary defect.
- Spayed bitches or castrated dogs, and dogs with disqualifying conformation faults.
- Females in season. • Dogs with artificial coloring in their coats; however, the coloring must not cover more than one-third of the dog’s coat, must not be in poor taste and cannot contain profanity.
- Handicapped dogs, such as three-legged dogs, provided that the dog appears willing and does not show any signs of discomfort or pain
It took us almost a year of videos, photos, letters, emails and phone calls to accomplish this ground breaking task! Ari, with her amazing athleticism, motivation, drive and willingness to perform, convinced them thru the many videos that I sent them, along with the Delmarva Life televised Interview, that 3 legged dogs could not only complete but can win these in these classes!
What was explained to me by my AKC Rep, is that March 1, 2021, 3 legged dogs can compete in Virtual Obedience, soon to follow Virtual Rally and soon to follow in person! Kudos to Ari! without her, none of this would have been an option!!
Thank You!! Carolyn Baynes and Ari
BRAVO! This is such great news! Congratulations on making this wonderful change happen. It will change lives! You did it!
As I mentioned over email, we are looking forward to having an AKC rep, you and Ari on a tripawd talk episode in the coming weeks.

Great interview! Ari is amazing!
My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019. With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer. I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud! He will live forever in my Heart!
