Its been awhile since I've shared an update so I thought I would let everyone know how Tux is doing.  If I would have updated everyone a couple a weeks ago I would have said that Tux is doing great, walking around, eating, and very independent.  However, last week Tux had a turn for the worst.  He stopped moving around as he normally does and he stopped eating independently.  It seemed like we were moving backwards.  Something was just not right.  He had to stop and rest several times when he would make his way outside.  He would even lay down outside before he would get up to pee (and we live in Wisconsin and it's been really cold) We had to bring him food and water or he wouldn't eat or drink.  Then we started noticing all these bumps all over his body.  So on Friday we took him to the vet. Our vet asperated several of his bumps and said that he has a form of round cell lymphoma.  He couldn't tell us what kind until he gets the pathology back.  So we took Tux home to wait for the pathology.  Over the weekend he has gotten more weak.  He has spent the last couple of days laying on the cough between mom and dad.  The vet just called ten minutes ago and told us that he has poorly differentiated sarcoma.  Bad new.  There is nothing more we can do except love him and give him all treats he wants.  He has been through so much in the last 6 months it is time for us to let him go. What a hard decision.  We love him so much.

Oh god Sarah...I am so sorry...my heart is breaking for you and Tux.

Jerry, Lalla, Genie, Winston, Titan and all the other special souls will be there for him across the bridge when it's time. Tux will know that the last thing you do for him is the most loving and selfless thing you can do for him.

We are praying for you during this really, really difficult and painful time.

Love and prayers,

Heather and Zeus

I'm so sorry to read about Tux and the new developments.  As difficult as it is at this time, don't loose site of the extra days you had with him the last 6 months.  Hugs to all of you.  We're here to keep you strong.

Sarah

I am so sorry about Tux. I know how hard this is for you. We had a similar situation with Titan. The comfort I found was we DID EVERYTHING we could just as you did. It's hard to say goodbye. But I know Titan is running around up there on 4 legs and is with alot of tripawd pals. It has almost been a month since Titan is gone. We still have good and bad days. Us tripawd parents have to stick together. Alot of people tell me I did alot more for Titan than most pet owners would. But it came naturally for me as I am sure it did with you and Tux. You, your family and Tux are in my prayers. I will tell Titan tonight to keep an eye out for Tux and take good care of him.

Please know that sharing Tux's story here will help others prepare for the same difficult experiences with their own dogs. Thank you for being part of the community here. Our hearts are with you...
