Woo-Hoo!! So glad to hear that Luna is proving herself a real tripawd princess warrior! We look forward to seeing pictures and we're so happy you are part of the tripawd family!
Luanne and Spirit Shooter
Spirit Shooter was a Miniature Australian Shepherd who was diagnosed with a MCT and had a LF amp 1/28/13 at 13-1/2 years old.
Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.
Sending good thoughts to you and Luna. So happy to hear she is feeling good. I know it is hard not to second-guess everything you do - but remember how much you love her and know you are always going to do what you think is best. As one of my dear friends said - be gentle with yourself.
Hugs,
Alicia, Angel Daisy & Quadpawd Dakota

Good to hear that Luna is living life as she whould!! They know that they are missing a limb.. but they adjust and they do their business as all dawgs should!! Isn't that just awesome.. and doesn't it bring the biggest smile to your face!??
And don't they becaome so so gawd damn cute as a tripawd that it should be illegal in many states!??
Please stay in touch with Luna's story.. and pictures!! start a blog.. it is a great way to share for other new pawrents to learn!!
How did her time go after the amputation? How was her pain tolerance.. obviously her feeding and everything went well? Did you have any sleepless nights?
I know it's all in the past. but it is nice to hear of the adventure!!
Christine..... with Franklin in her heart♥
Franklin, he was the Happiest Dog on Three Legs! Diagnosed 09/26/2012 with Osteosarcoma, amputated 12/4/2012. Had a wonderful 5 1/2 months painfree until he ran for the Bridge on 5/15/2013. Always in my heart, and always a guardian angel of my pack... You can follow his Tripawd Adventures, before and after, in my blog, Frank'n'Farter!
Sorry to hear what had happened to Luna's leg leading up to the surgery.
Despite of the fact that she is now a tripawd, take comfort that:
(1) she is so young and should be able to adjust with no problem.
(2) she did not get rid of the leg because of cancer. Good diet and moderate physical acitivities will help build a solid foundation for her many years to come.
I bet everyone had/have felt guilty at some point over the course of our walks with our tripawds, that is so natural because we are human.
Many tripawd friends have already given you lots of valuable advices on how to care for your baby, the kind of care better than what I had given to my girl. (see? feeling guilty here again!)
It is unavoidable feeling guilty, it just pops up in your mind every now and then, but don't let that thought go on for too long.
Instead, love your pup with all your heart and with all your might; just like the way they love us always, the way they live their lives like there was no tomorrow.
Good job Lna! Good job dad!!!
Sta ding ovation goingon over here! The applause is so loud and everyone is so happy!
Can't wait to see the pics! Videos too!
Enjoy your journey! It's a good one!
Sally and Happy Hannah
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
I have been adopting and caring for special needs dogs for years now. Not one of them was unhappy. They can't always live a "normal" dog life but they find their own ways to enjoy life. Dogs are amazing and your Luna is going to do great. The biggest thing I've learned is to follow the dog's lead and to take things a moment at a time. When hard times hit, we humans go forward and back in time. We get stuck on how things were and how things may be. Dogs don't do that. They are in the moment. When the moment is lousy they may feel lousy but they don't make it worse by worrying about the future. That's why they can bounce back so fast. Because things change and when that change for the better comes they embrace it.
Cora, my tripawd pup, is blind, has some brain damage and had her right front leg amputated. She is active and happy. Luna is going to do great and find ways to inspire and surprise you.
