02/1/14 - finally remembered to update :-)
Olli is doing fantastic - had his staples out last Wednesday and was pretty quiet that night
But I am sure that wore him out. I know it would have me.

While we were in for the staple removal we mentioned how he yelped out sometimes getting up & they said that when the were taking them out they could see that he was trying to move the leg that isn't there so they decided to up his gabapentin(sp) for phantom pain to 3 times a day vs 2. Not sure if it was that or the staples being removed but it made a big difference. He finally started coming out of my daughters room more.

He is back to putting himself in front of the door and crying when we leave :-)
He gets over that pretty quickly, but I am glad that he feels good enough to get up and down to come be a pain in the butt again.
He also stole my husbands glove and ran off with it yesterday, another game that he used to play when he didn't want someone to leave :-)

Sometimes it is hard to look at him and see the furless side with no leg, but I get over that pretty quickly as I know we did the right thing.

Today we went in to pick up his chemo meds and go over the whole chemo process, pills for 5 days, blood work and as long as everything is going ok, injections in 3 weeks.
They are using 3 different drugs for his chemo treatment.

When the oncologist walked in he had a big smile on his face and he said that He was really pleased with how well Olli was doing and said his blood work was perfect!!!
Yeah!!! And our sheet with info said prognosis was good 1-2 years.
We are planning on making liars out of them but I'll take that for now.

So Olli is doing fantastic and I will update again soon.

This is a GREAT update, thank you so much for remembering to fill us in, it's wonderful to hear how things are getting back to normal.

Your vet team sounds really excellent, I like how they're managing his pain and keeping an eye on everything.

Isn't it funny how when your Tripawd gets back to the usual tricks that used to make you nuts, suddenly you're overjoyed at them?! Tripawds can get away with almost anything!

What a wonderful update on your handsome Ollie!

Sounds like he has adapted beautifully to his new "normal" and that he will have many many more days to steal gloves and block doorways!

Hugs to all

2/15/14 - Thanks everyone. Olli has been doing really well on the chemo from what we can tell, the first 2 days he was a little quiet, the most Meds were given the first day so maybe that was why. Otherwise eating & drinking well and all bodily functions working well. He gets up a lot more and is pretty much back to his normal self. Still cries out once in a while but I think it is due more to new muscles and moving differently. We have been giving him lots of rubdowns and he likes to come sit down in front of us to ask for one. Just over 3 weeks and doing fantastic. Blood work on Tuesday. Fingers crossed. I thought earlier today about where he would have been if we had only done chemo or done nothing and I am glad we made the decision to amputate over the other choices. He is a happy puppy once again,. :-)

It has been 2 months since Olli had his surgery & he is doing fantastic. He cries out every once in a while but not that often.  He is back to getting to his rides when daddy takes him to the dump with him.  He will sit up and his haunches every once in a while and paw us like he used to do. :-) He is back to laying on the porch and enjoying himself sunning outside.  He had his second round of chemo and aside from the couple of times that he had diarrhea he did quite well.

Blood work has been good each time and the oncologist has been pleased.  When he comes in with a smile on his face we know that we are progressing well in this battle.  Round 3 of chemo is this Thursday.  Hopefully it goes as well as last time.  Taking it one day at time.

So happy to hear Ollie is doing so well....it takes a little while, sometimes, but they always do so much better than we think they will.

Hoping your sweet boy has many, many more happy days ahead!

Pawesome news! Boy there's nothing better than a ride to the dump, eh Ollie?

It's wonderful to hear from you. We always like to assume no news is good news and are so relieved when it is. Yay Ollie!

Congratulations, you've officially graduated out of the "Presentation and Diagnosis" forum. Whew! Please feel free to start posting in other topic areas :)

Looking forward to seeing photos too.
