I hope the Bup will keep Leo comfortable ! This stuff always happens when the vet is closed !

Purrkins was sent home with 2 meds for his amp. Bup. and Gabapentin .

Just giving you a idea, some kitties are sent home with just bup, or fentanyl patch. Some have other meds added,  It depends on the vet.

I believe for Leo the amp will make a big difference! Getting rid of that painful leg! Poor guy! Feel bad for you both!

Its painful for him and painful for you to see him suffer!

Thanks for your tips, Holly.

I feel a little better now that he's started resting again rather than standing around restlessly and growling. I will keep on his meds every 8 hours instead of 12, and hope for the best unless things get worse. ):

We are hoping for the best too! We are saying pawsitive it was just a tweak of meds needed!

Im glad to hear Leo is more comfortable already! Thats a great sign! You are learning and being prepared for his surgery already!

I turned my phone alerts on, I will hear you if you post. Your not alone ok! Give Leo and Zoey a chin scratch from us.

Hugs to you!!

Holly & Purrkinsheart

P.S. We are just 15 minutes away form MSU right out of East Lansing .

Thank you so much Holly, it honestly means the world to me to have this place for support during this! My boyfriend lives a couple hours away across the border, and while he is working right now he will hopefully be able to make it here this evening and will be staying with us until surgery day. That will also definitely make things easier, not being here to deal with all this by myself.

I will give lots of love to both kitties, perhaps more so to poor little Zooey who is not the most concerned sister, but is likely confused by all this!heart

We've been thru this. Totally understand! It will help with your boyfriend coming! It will lift a little of the weight your feeling!

Zooey will bill concerned and you might have some issues when Leo comes home. If you can get a Feliway multi cat diffuser going that should help them both after the surgery .The reintroduction phase,  We had some hissing and growling between Purrkins and his brother. Before and after the surgery.

I am a big fan of the diffuser! If you need it, it helps!heart

explain the bear please:)

Bear is just my nickname (not much can rhyme with "Sara") and my go-to internet monicker. :p

I have had experience using Feliway in the past myself. Zooey's tail was shut in a door a few years ago, and she must have thought it was Leo who hurt her somehow. They went through a very rough patch in their relationship for the next few months after that, but Feliway definitely helped us through it. She still isn't his biggest fan to this day, but they usually just each mind their own business and use me as their human buffer. While I do love him so, he can be kind of a bully to Zooey, who is rather dainty and not at all a fan of his rough n' tumble games.

Leo is still resting on the couch, but he growls again if I accidentally bump his hurt leg. Is that unusual, or all part of the same pain? This may just be my anxiety running amuck, but now I'm starting to wonder if he may have broken a bone somehow, on top of everything else. /:

👍🏼 on bear😉 Get the diffuser going again. You will need it again.

I dont know , that is what I was wondering myself, If the bone broke ? The growling and hissing is pain. This is all new today the growling and hissing?

Your anxiety will be running high also. Make some calls, call the scary place, call another non scary place closer to you, call msu or any of the above. Let them tell you what they think is best to do at this point. Thats just my suggestion. The call might be all you need to at least feel ok with things tonight, it may go differently . I do think if you call you will feel better then not calling or not knowing what to do. Let someone tell you what is best. What is you gut telling you? That he may have broke the bone? If the answer is yes. Call and call the place you would feel most comfortable taking him if you have to!

Sending you strength!

They could do a X-ray easily and answer that question, and give you the pain meds you need to possibly get to tuesday?

The growling is definitely new as of like, 4 this afternoon. He had been sleeping on my bed most of the day prior, and I was taking care of stuff around my home so I wasn't really watching him most of the day. ):

My mother actually called the one 24 hour clinic for me and explained he had bone cancer and was going for an amputation on tuesday, but that he was in a great deal of pain right now and could they give him anything for that to get him through to Tuesday. They told her they could not give anything, which seems strange to me but I honestly don't know.

He is fast asleep finally, and I honestly am worried taking him on a long trek anywhere is going to do more harm than good, especially if he is sleeping finally. I don't really know what anyone could do for a broken bone in a leg that will be gone in two days anyway, so I think I am just going to wait it out. I feel so bad for my poor boy, but the thought of waking him up to take him on a very scary car ride when I already have pain meds for him, just doesn't seem like the best option at this point. This is just not a fun situation all around. /:

It doesn't sound that strange unfortunately that they wont give meds without seeing him. They could of guided her on dosing though :0 Depending on where you would go, they would most likely do the surgery sooner then Tuesday. I know that you have this all planned and the you have chosen the vets. Maybe your boyfriend will have more insight and help with the decision that is best for you guys.

No not a fun situation at all!!! This is something else to keep in mind for when he does have the surgery. You need a emergency contact number you are comfortable with, and wouldn't hesitate calling or going if need be.

Post in the forum ask the vet and see what you get back on that. If things get worse then I would get in the car and go.

Im sorry you guys are going thru this! Truly! sad

Did you call the Surgical Center in Flint to hear the answering machine there ,where they suggest you go or call in a emergency ? Are they the same place?

Just a afterthought they may suggest calling another after hours place?

Hi all, he just seemed to be getting worse, so I took him to a different 24 hour clinic. Unfortunately, things are not looking good for this poor boy. ): The doctor cannot feel a pulse in his legs, which leads him to believe he's either thrown a clot, or the tumor has grown so much it's cutting off blood flow. They are doing a glucose test to rule out what they can, but I don't really know what my options are anymore. I don't think we can wait until Tuesday anymore ):

Im glad you took him in! Is this the clinic you were afraid to go to?  Let them do all the testing necessary and see what they find.

Just try to breathe and wait for the results first. They will tell you what your options are once they know whats going on exactly!

We are here ,will wait with you! Once you get results back , they will tell you what the options are. And if you can do there or somewhere else. Lets wait and see and try to breathe thru this!

HUGS!!!

Sitting beside you!

Thank you as always Holly.

I do feel good about this clinic, and the doctor threw out the potential for doing his amputation surgery here once we know we even can anymore. I am still just waiting for info from the blood tests, and they are doing a couple more X-rays as well.

Great you answered some of the questions I was going to ask.  The hemipelvectomy is alot more involved then then amp.  I would want to know that they have done those before. I do not think you have many options on where right now but you might so we will see what all the tests say and go from there.🙏
