Awwww, so glad Riley is on the road to recovery. I love those tiny little shirts you bought for her! Hopefully she is out of the woods with respect to screaming and major pain. Here is a link to a recent post on pain management (maybe the one that Mike was talking about).

I'm so glad little Riley made it through the procedure and is home and on the road to recovery. I just love seeing that adorable little face...and the "bed head" pic...just adorable!!!
Hugs to you all!

It seems like it. She has only screamed once today and it was when I took her to pee and I guess I picked her up wrong.
It seems like she wants to shake. She keeps starting to shake and then stopping herself. I don't know if she's afraid she'll fall over or that it will hurt.
That is the cutest laundry basket of clothes I have ever seen!!
RILEY! CONGRATULATIONS ON SITTING UP!!!
The "I want to get out of my basket" look is a keeper! She looks sooooo pitiful!
Glad the pain meds are helping her rest some. And I hopenyou are getting rest too!
Keep us posted a d PLEASE keep posting photow! She is so ADORABLE!!
Hugs and love!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Riley is becoming so much more alert now. It's going to get harder keeping her calm. Her little personality is starting to come back!
She's super happy now because her Daddy is back with us (had to go out of town for work right after her exam). This also means that Mommy was off of nursing duty last night and got a full nights sleep.
Watching over Riley has been a family affair now that she insists on being out of the basket.
she looks great!!!! She really is absolutely adorable w/her little face and those expressions!!! Way to go Riley!!!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Sending kisses through cyber land!! Such ADORABLE pictures! Can't stip smiling!

Hugs to all!

It must. Before the surgery, she didn't walk at all. She just laid around. It's amazing that it can hurt less to have your leg cut off.
Well, today is day 5 post-op! Riley is doing great. She snuck out of the dog door and I caught her like 1 second before she started frolicking in the mud! Before her amputation, she wouldn't use the dog door most of the time (like maybe one day a week she'd go out of it). Now, I've had to close it off because she keeps trying to go outside without me. I'm working form home and my girls aren't used to my attention not being fully on them.
She's almost done with her antibiotics. It looks like there's maybe enough to get through tomorrow. Also, she's almost done with her Metacam which she currently gets nightly.
We've had a lot of thunderstorms lately (the reason for the mud outside). Here's a pic of Riley hiding from the thunder and Lily (our yorkie/shih tzu mix) checking up on Riley. I think thunderstorms are the one thing that Riley is terrified of and she's the only one of our 4 that is scared of them.
So glad to hear she's doing so well! And it's still very early in recovery!! She's a feisty little girl!!
Every dog is different when it comes to meds. My Happy Hannah, a big "fluffy" girl, pretty much stayed in everything for two weeks. I actually had to extend her tramadol into the third week.
As far as thunderstorms, yeah, I've had some dogs who could care less snd want to go play while another one woukd shake and shiver, pant and pace!
This picture is so precious though. Sorry she's scared, but she is just so adorable all snuggled in her bed.
Yep, that vum leg must really have been hurting her so badly! It's just delightful to see how well she is doing withut it!
YAAAAAAAAAY FOR RILEY!!!

Ohhh poor little sweetie! There's nothing worse than trying to help them understand thunderstorms. You might want to try a Thundershirt, it helps many doggies who are fearful of storms.
Glad to hear she's made so much progress!

We actually do have one. We won it a few years ago. Riley doesn't like it
