Sally said it much better!!! If he is in pain, he may be able to be dosed until you can get him there. If he is not, that means his pain is being managed well. And Sally is right. They often start with "bring him in" but will work with you if you explain transport issues. Diesel, you hang in there, fella!!!
The thing is, you already have pretty much all the tests in the works to determine what's going on with Diesel. You've already done the fungal test, you've done xrays, you've done bloodwork, etc. They're suspicious of a couple of causes, including osteo. It's VERY likely that the swelling is related to the one of the outcomes of the tests they are already running.
I would "think"that an ER Vet could somewhat put your mind at ease that this can wait until you get with Diesel's Vets tomorrow. And even then, they may say they can't really lroceed with any solutions until the tests come back! Ugh!!
Anyway, maybe they'll suggest some cold compresses for a few minutes. A bag of frozen veggies over a towel might work just fine.
It's good that Diesel doesn't seem to be in any real bad pain. That's good!

How are you and Diesel? Did the swelling go down? Is he still managing his pain? Any word from the vets?
If not, I hope you hear from them today. I also hope his night was restful and that you got some sleep.
Diesel, you are one tough cookie! You hang in there Diesel!
Best wishes, hugs, and PyrPaws all around!
Just catching up with what's going on, I'm so sorry and hope Diesel is getting the treatment he needs right now. Keep us posted OK?

Spoke to Diesel's oncologist, she said the swelling may be caused either by inflammation or the tumor affecting his lymph drainage. He is now laying under the tree in the yard I think he is ready to go. I just cant do it before I get these fungal test results... I just hate watching his suffer
Seems like Diesel is resting "fairly" comfortably or no?? Are his pain meds helping?
Sometimes pain can make it appear as though a dog has given up, when it's really thst he's just dealing with pain. Ask the Vet if it can be managed better
A suggestion. Talk to the Oncologist, or which ever Vet woukd be most knowledgeable, about the treatment, outlook, etc IF it is fungal. Oddly enough, even though a diagnosis of osteo sounds horrible, getting a fungal diagnosis is not an easy route by any means. It takes a lot of different antibiotics with a lot of bad side effects. So you really, really need to have that information to add to all the research you are doing. I'll try and fi d the blog of a dog who went through that and didn't fare well at all. It may not be the norm, but it's something the Vets NEED to inform you. It may be that this dog had other issues, etc
Where do you stand as far as, if it is osteo? With the anesthesia issues, is amputation still an option? I know you are worried and need as much certainty as possible before deciding how to proceed. That's certainly understandable.
Let us k ow what the Vet says, okay??
One more thought. When you speak to the Onco/Vet about fungal treatment and maybe getting better pain management in the meantime, ask them t PLEASE do whatever it takes to bump Diesel's fungal test to the front of the @I e!!! It may be that it takes "X" number of days to process anyway. It's worth a try!!
We're right here with you. Update when you can, okay? Let us know how we can help
Hugs

PS...I bet Diesel would enjoy you sitting with him u der the tree and giving him a very, very gentle smooch.

If its osteo, Im gonna have to put him down. He had a hard time with the anesthesia and his back leg is swelling up. I just feel like there is no hope for him at this point.
How do I do it tho?? How do i pick up the phone to make the appointment? How to I take him there to watch him take his last breath??? Wish I can just wake up one day, and its all over.
I'm actually staffing the TRIPAWDS HELPLINE if it would help to have someone to talk with and just help you process things. It would be my privilege. I understand....first hand understand.

sheba2011 was the beautiful GSD from Texas, I think, with a fungal infection.
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
YES Christine! Good job!
And IF it is a fungal, it doesn't necessarily mean that Diesel would have as rough a time as Sheba. I guess there are variations of the type, as well as a variation on which drugs work best in each case with each dog. So Sheba's situation may not be representative of how Diese woukd handle things.

My sweet Eddy was diagnosed in July 2013 with the dreaded Osteosarcoma. We amputated in early August and started him on Carboplatin and Doxycycline after that. We also tried oral Chemo at home, as well as Chinese herbs, sadly mets developed in October despite all of our efforts. Eddy died five months after his amputation. If I had it to over again, I would definitely amputate, but I would not do Chemo. In my opinion, the Chemo racked the most havoc on Eddy's body, and it didn't give us a lot more time. At the time of his death, his white cell count was skyrocketing, as his body was fighting all sorts of infections due to the chemo. I am so sorry you are going through this. I know how you feel and I am so sorry. Feel free to message me if you want!

Betsy Golden and Angel, Eddy. Eddy was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 7-23-14, had a left rear amputation 8-07-14, had 3 rounds of carboplatin chemotherapy, a small lung met was discovered in October, had 2 rounds of doxorubicin, and unfortunately more lung mets were discovered. Eddy fought cancer valiantly and went to the Rainbow Bridge 1-6-15, at the age of 7 years and 359 days, just six days short of his 8th birthday. Best Dog, Ever....you will never be forgotten.
I'm so sorry, I know it's the worst situation to go through and wish we could make it easier.
What are the diagnostics and treatment that your oncologist recommended? What kind of time frame do they have before results can be seen?
