She is still at the hospital - they are now planning another surgery on Friday to remove some necrotic tissue - she's been there since Monday.
Trying to take deep breaths ...not exactly how I thought this would be going.......
Today is one week post-op and I feel like we are about to start over.
I'm so sorry, I know this is disappointing and scary. Try to be strong. But if it's any reassurance, this is not an unusual situation, it's happened to others, and it's so much better that they're taking care of this now rather than later, she will have such a good recovery when the ick is taken away.
{{{{{hugs}}}} It's gonna be OK. Keep us posted, we'll be thinking of you.

Awww, so sorry you..and Doll Momma...are javng to go through this.
perhaps others with more esperience in this area can chime in. That means they are goig to remove ve "dead tissue", is that right? Did they say what caused this? Do you feel cnfident in these vets or do you need a second opnion?
Does she have a fever? Is she eating, drnking, peeing? Will they let yo visit her? Could she come home Thursday for the night and then go back in Friday for surgery?
These set-backs do happen with major surgery, but I know Dolly Momma will turn around soon and all this will be forgotten as the twoof you proceed n with a pain free life full of loving and spoiling!!
The ictures of her are sooooo sweet (well, the amp. site isn't exacty adorable) She has THE sweetest, most gentle face!
Try and get some rest. Sending lots sndlots of healing hugs t Doly Momma...and calming hugs tonyou!
Sally and Happy Hannah
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
I'm sorry to hear of the set back you guys have had. Hope that the new surgery goes well with a quicks heals. She's such a sweetie. You can just see how gentle she is in her eyes. She deserves a good break here. We are thinking about you both and sending best wishes.
Esther and her Snoop
Thanks all! I just spoke with the vet's office. They say she is eating, drinking, going outside on leash to bathroom. I think it was caused by the build up of fluid? Not totally sure about that - but I do know they are going to have to re-do some if not all of the sutures.
I trust this vet totally so it's not that - I just never thought of her spending an entire week at the vet! They told me again on the phone how sweet she is and how everyone working there thinks she is special (do they say that to everyone?)
I've googled it so I know it does happen sometimes. It says usually due to excessive exercise, though.
Thanks so much for the encouragement!
Well, the good report card is something to celebrate for sure. Yeah, it's rare for a dog to be in the hospital this long after amputation, usually seromas are so harmless, it's not often this happens. I'm so sorry you both get to be in that oddball club nobody wants to be in!
I hope she can come home really soon!

She is doing well today. They said I "could" bring her home today but would have to bring her back in on Monday to have the drain removed. I elected not to bring her home because I think all of that shuffling around is not good for her. She gets anxious in the car and it's a good 30 minutes each way. Plus, I thought she might do something weird with the drain and it would be the weekend again and I'd have nobody to call (except the Emergen$y V$t) So..... I feel a little bit guilty, but just want what's best for her - not to make "me" feel better.
They said the top of her sutures were already healing and the new ones would be removed in about 10 days. I've washed all of her bedding that had yucky drainage on it and stocked up on her favorite treats.
Monday we begin again...........(no surprises this time, please)
Awww. That had to be so hard to leave her there but I agree, the stress for her would be worse than the weekend home. Good going Mom, you are pawesome!
I'm glad to hear things are moving along and healing has begun. They caught it early, so yay for that!
Relax, you're definitely on the right path, Monday will feel like a new beginning.

OH piddle - what did I do wrong on the photos?
Anyway - She is doing great - so we start over in a sense - waiting 10 days to remove stitiches - resting, etc. etc.
She was SO excited to see me - wish I had had a video camera - she acted like those dogs do when their owners return from military service - LOL! Made me so happy!!
Thanks for the well wishes - hopefully things will go better this time around.
