She is doing great! She is sleeping a little more than normal but I'm sure she didn't rest well at the vet's office. She has an appetite! She ate her breakfast and took her pills with no problems.
I don't have a cone on her yet. I did wake up several times during the night and heard her licking so I said, "Dolly, stop licking - you don't want one of those awful cones!!" and she did. I know I can't let her lick it - but I hope I can just watch her because it seems having a cone just adds another thing for her to contend with. Do most people have to use one after this surgery? The vet didn't have one on her - but the written instructions warn that if they start licking, I will need to get one. I actually have one of the soft ones that I used on a bloodhound foster - may be too large for her, though. Fingers crossed that we can avoid it.
So far, it looks like the swelling has spread a little bit but I'm hoping it won't get worse. I have some pictures but cannot figure how to post them here.
Wow that girl is one tough doggie! Yeah she'll probably spend a lot of time sleeping, but then again she's so tough, maybe not. The cone of shame is dreadful but most folks do use one, there are few dogs who can't resist the temptation to lick the stitches raw. Keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't get to 'em or that would be an icky situation.
Have a great weekend together!

Hmm. These are wee images:

Hmm. Hard to say since we're not vets but is it warm to the touch? Oozing? Smelly? If not it's probably OK. Have you tried a warm compress for a few minutes to help it drain?

Try not to be discouraged. Many dogs come home super energetic and then crash hard for a few days. The lack of appetite is totally common, the pain meds will do that. But for your own peace of mind, a quick visit to the vet will be worth the effort.
Good luck tomorrow, I hope you have a restful night together.

Thanks guys - we were there when the vet opened this morning - she is dripping fluid pretty rapidly - has a large area of seroma under the entire belly - and has an elevated temp.
So - they are keeping her and will call me later today. Hoping this is a minor setback. Not in a panic yet
