OMG ... those ears!!!! My new pooch has big ears that I swear she hears things I don't hear ... but nothing like those! I love it! Jasper's dumbo ears!

Such a cute puppy!! And lucky to be at the beach (at least it looks like the beach) When Murphy came home from his biospy, he had to wear a cone and he looked even sadder because his ears were smushed! There's wasn't room for them to stand up!

Murphy, became a tripawd on August 17, 2015. Went to the rainbow bridge on July 5, 2016.

Murphy's picture is adorable! His eyes just melt my hert!! And I did go back and look at some of his pics on instagram...what a splendid "family album"! This is a very happy and very loved boy!!

I do think Jasper Lily and Murphy may be related! Love the ears!!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Thanks for the kind words! It is hard having a dog that has unpredictable reactions to other dogs. I usually walk him around outside to avoid the waiting room. I am lucky that the vet we went to for the biopsy had a special 'comfort room' where they let us stay for the entire procedure, and as soon as it was done, they brought Murphy back to the room where he woke up, away from other dogs. I'm hoping they are willing to do that moving forward. The other waiting rooms are much closer together, and he usually gets worked up hearing (and smelling) all of the other animals.

Sounds like you have an understanding vet! That's great.

With Ellie, we did a lot of training just so we could walk her w/o being leash aggressive. We always had a treat bag w/ us and we trained her to 'watch me' when we saw the potential for dog-dog interaction. We'd take a small treat and raise it from her nose to the corner of our eye, repeating "watch me". We continue on past the other dog all the while saying 'watch me, watch me'. There was one particular house where the dog would run along the fence barking wildly and that was her test case. She got so she could walk by and total ignoring the crazy dog. But she never really liked most other dogs. We always had the treat bag at the vet's office too.

Denise, Bill and Angel Ellie.

Active 10+ Pyr mix suddenly came up lame with ACL tear in left rear leg. Scheduled for a TPLO but final pre-op x-rays indicated a small suspicious area, possibly OSA, which could have caused the ACL tear. Surgeon opened the knee for TPLO but found soft bone. Biopsy came back positive for OSA. Became a Tripawd 9/18/14. Carbo6 with Cerenia and Fluids. Pain free and living in the moment. Crossed the Bridge on 7/12/15 after probable spread of cancer to her cervical spine. A whole lifetime of memories squeezed into 10 months. Here's her story: Eloise

OMD . . . Murphy is absolutely adorable! And I too think that Murphy and JL might be related! LOL!

I can't add too much here, but I can tell you about our new fur-baby Meesha.

She was a hoarder rescue and came with all kinds of baggage that we're still working out. One of those issues is her visit to the vet's. She is very, very unpredictable simply because she terrified. We didn't know this until after our first visit . . . BOY HOWDY!

On her second visit we decided to bring Melody along to set the example for her. We also brought her favorite squeak toy along with treats. We gave these items to the vet and techs so that she would relate her favorite things with hopefully future favorite people. This visit went so much better. They didn't have to muzzle her and I know that helped her anxiety level as well.

I know this will be an ongoing exercise we'll need to do, but I have faith that our fur-babies are not as stubborn as our human counterparts, if you know what I mean.

Welcome and howdy to you and your Carolina dog!!!

Harmony became a Tripawd on 10/21/14 (MCT). She left us way too soon on 11/1/14.

Thank you for the advice and warm welcome! I'll have to try bringing one of his favorite toys next time, maybe that will help distract him. smiley
