I'm hoping that Wyatt will continue onwards with those amazing ears aloft and proud
Sending you lots of love and best wishes and hopes for the right result and quick recovery that it seems the most talented dogs are able, ~ just like ones that manage to eat Road Flares and bounce onwards !!!

Hey Jim Rene & Wyatt,
Sorry that I am late on this but want you to know we are thinking of all of you and sending pawsitive thoughts your way. Praying for good news!
Spirit Chili Dawgs pack
Diagnosed with OSA: 5/2/2011 Ampuversary: 5/11/2011 OSA returned in hip: 8/26/2011
Chili Dawg crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 8/30/2011 & is now pain free. He was my heart dog, and I miss him every day.
Your pawsitivity is working folks, thank you. We just got a call from the vet and Wyatt is eating, drinking and eliminating normally (few things rarely prevent Wyatt Ray Dawg from eating!). He's in a stepped down ward from ICU, does have a drain in and is hopped up on pain meds, but it looks like we might be able to pick him up on Saturday after they're certain there is no more drainage from the exploratory surgery. The rump lump is still big and they haven't done anything to mess with it, but it hasn't grown either.
The part that we are really thankful for is, the vet says they're leaning toward this awful situation as being the result of a foreign body that's worked its way in somehow, causing infection, and not cancer. He said they're not ruling out cancer, but that he didn't see any indication of neoplasic activity, this just isn't the way cancer presents itself. As a result, they're scheduling a MRI on Monday immediately after his lab results are in. A CT scan is less expensive, he told us, but it's probably not going to give enough information. By Monday afternoon we will hopefully know what this crazy thing is.
We miss our boy like crazy, but are thankful for this hopeful update.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! Please give all of your furry kids a big big hug, scratch and smooches from us. We send all our love and thanks to you, Tripawds Nation, for helping us through this, your emotional support means the world to us. xoxo

What an encouraging post! And on Thanksgiving Day! For this good news, I give thanks.
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

It was such joy to read your post this morning. While Wyatt is far from out of the woods I'm sure you must be breathing a little easier now. Hopefully you will be able to pick him up on Saturday and have lots of cuddle time over the weekend.
Crossing everything for good test results and MRI on Monday.
Many hugs
Karen and Spirit Magnum
Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/
Wyatt! Have you been talking to Gerry? Cause he should have counseled you NOT to pull this kind of thing. THREE times Gerry has had a major health issue on a sad Yoda anniversary. This is NOT a good way to take your pawrents' minds off missing Jerry, ok? Not at alllllll.
So, be like Gerry, Wyatt, in that what's going on with you is not going to be life threatening (sounds like you're on your way towards confirming that). And also be like Gerry in that you are now done giving your pawrents cancer scares like this again, ok? (Right, Ger? We're done with that too!)
Now, enough lecturing - half kidding. Paws crossed for ya, bud!
Gerry has been a tripawd since 12/16/2009.
He was a shelter dog with a mysterious past and an irrepairable knee injury.
Videos and pics of Gerry's pawesomeness can be found at: http://gerry.tripawds.com
Hello ole tripawds
I am sooo sorry that you all (Rene, Jim and Wyatt) are going through this. I must say the "doubling overnight" did not sound like "C". Doubling weekly perhaps, but overnight? But what do I know other than a few fruit-like growths three years ago. The infection or foreign body makes more sense with that growth rate (of course - what do I know). In any case, tripawds across this planet are thinking of you!
By the way, fantastic picture Gerry! You are prettier than ever. Great to see the old friends for I haven't checked in for some time.
Susan
(p.s. Paddles, my quad, is doing fine here in Winnipeg.)
Wow - thank you Renee and Jim for this update. We'd go for infection over cancer any day.
Keeping up the with the pawsitive juju!
Huge hugs

That's a pretty good update. Still sending good thoughts your way, wild boy. Can't wait to see you come home.

Hey peoples! I'm feeling good enough to give you a pawsonal update, live from the prison cells (err, I mean kennels) of Texas A&M University!
First off, sssssh! Don't tell the Aggies that my Mom and Dad have always been UT Longhorns fans I heard them say they would swap teams if the smarties here can figure out what the heck is going on with me.
Hey Gerry, I forgot about those stunts you pulled on Yoda's anniversaries. I didn't plan it this way, I swear. OK, so I was a in a little bit of a hurry to get out west, but do you really think I'd want a big lump on my rump on purpose? Hah! No waaaay.
So I heard the docs tell my people that I'm doing good, nothing's changed since yesterday other than I can't poop. They said that they're a little concerned about it but I guess they forgot that pain meds make us all stopped up? Duuuuh! Sheesh, I should be chief of the hospital dontcha think?
The good news: I'm stable (well, at least physically).
The bad news: Looks like I'm not coming home anytime soon, not even tomorrow . Docs say that I still need to be in there and they will keep me imprisoned (errr, kennelled) until at least Monday. BOOOOO! They made my Momma cry, which wasn't very nice.
Well, that's it for now. I have some regulating to do around here, these vet students are outta control!
Over and out.

The Good Doctor just called and gave us an update. Wyatt is the same, and he POOPED! That was great news. He's eating too, alert and well.
The bad news is they want to keep him until Monday when he has the MRI. When we asked why they thought he would be better off there they told us it's because he has a 1" open wound on his butt where they did the exploratory surgery and there is still discharge. The wound is open and they want to keep it open, because that's where the drain is, and they will probably need to inject contrast through it for the MRI. They are trying to keep it lightly bandaged but Mr. Wyatt Houdini Ray is doing a really good job ripping off every type of bandage they've tried, even while wearing a cone of shame ! They don't know how he's doing it, but every time they come to check on him, the bandages are mysteriously off!
So we are way bummed out. We are bouncing around the idea of making the 2 hour drive to see him today, but we can't decide. The thought of having to leave him there is upsetting, and we don't want to stress him out. Wyatt is so high strung as it is. We wonder, if we go see him, is it more for our benefit or his? Would we do more harm than good? Hmmm.... what do you think?
