Well 6 days post op and Molly is doing better than I could have imagined!
Had her post op check yesterday and the vet was really pleased with her.
Shes getting quicker and more balanced each day and is her usual perky self! Still doesn't really entertain food much but I'm guessing that at this stage that could be down to her medication.
The vet gave us some exercises to do to help strengthen her other rear leg but she doesn't really seem to want to do those as it means her sitting and she's still quite bruised at this stage!
Thanks again for all the support everyone on here gave us! Really helped knowing what to expect from her post op etc.
So glad to hear how well sweet Molly is doing!
Yeah, I think generally Rehab doesn't start during the couple.of weeks of recovery. The surgery site itself is generally painful. While many dogs sleep or sit on their amp site within the dirst week or two, my Happy Hannah didn't sleep in her amp site until the fidth week!
Jerry will chime in, but I think the general concsensus would be that day six is too early.
And yeah, the tummy can get kind of messed up because of the meds. Check with yiur vet, he may be able to suggest something for her GI irritation.
Keep these great updates coming! And the sparkle will.continue to.come.back bigger.and bri.than ever!!
Lots of hugs!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Aww yay Molly! That's super cool to hear. Now that you've graduated from this topic (Presentation and Diagnosis), you can start new topics in places like "Hopping Around"!
All dogs are different, some may quickly regain the energy to start doing exercises, others need more time. Start a new topic in "Hopping Around" and do tell us more about the kinds of exercises your vet recommended, we'd love to hear more.
P.S. Remember that it's not so much about strengthening the legs, it's about strengthening core-muscles. Like humans, dogs need strong abdominal muscles for balance, momentum and stamina. See:

Congrats on a successful surgery! Welcome to the tripawd nation! So I'm probably a few days late on your recovery journey, but I just wanted to chime in, that the discoloration had me terrified! I think at least in my dog's case, and many I've read about, it's just the healing process and some get a lot of discoloration and some don't. So you're probably getting ready for staples to be pulled in the next few days, unfortunately it's not over just yet. There can still be some itching from the incision so keep an eye for chewing/licking, and don't be afraid to put that cone back on if necessary. The cone seemed harder on me than on my pup in retrospect.
Again congrats and welcome to tripawds!
Well after months of not knowing what the lesion was on Molly's leg we finally got the call from the vets today confirming that it was an osteosarcoma!
Thankfully we caught it before it had chance to spread and I know I absolutely made the right decision is amputating the leg! Such a relief to finally know what it was!
So relieved that Molly is recovering well. On May 20th we celebrated Johnnie's 2-yr ampuversary from osteosarcoma. So, yes, they can! We are so grateful to have had the courage to make the decision, and so grateful that he handled the post-op and chemo like a champ. Tripawds is a wonderful community, where we have found support in the hardest times, and also have shared the good news along this journey.
Paw hugs from Johnnie, and from me (Daniela).
Our awesome Golden Boy was diagnosed for OSA in April 2014 in the proximal humerus, front-leg amp on 05/20/2014. Finished chemo (Carbo6) on 07/10/2014. Ongoing treatment: acupuncture + K-9 Immunity Plus ( 3chews) and home-cooked no-grain diet. Stopped Apocaps because of liver issues. Liver issues: controlling altered enzymes with SAM-e and Milk Thistle. October 17: started having seizures. Taking fenobarbital for seizures. April 18: started prednisone.
Molly is pain free and living life to the fullest! Yep, that's a "right' decison! 🙂
Love in the moment and make every moment count! Molly sure is!
Hugs!
