Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Just had a phone call from the moor lane vets where Molly has been overnight - she's been very comfortable during the night and seems to be coping with pain relief every 4 hours. Not entertaining food but they said that can be either because of the surgery yesterday or because she's being fussy lol. Tom will be phoning me with the discharge information but we are provisionally booked in to pick her up at 4:20 today xx
Hooray for Molly! Great news!
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Yeah, not eating right away is no biggie. She may not poop for a few days either. Let us know when she does...we celebrate everything around here!!
Let us know when she gets home and gets settled.
We're here for yoi!

Yay! Surgery is done and the journey begins.....get ready for the rollercoaster. The first couple of weeks are filled with ups and downs, highs and lows, smiles and tears. I was just re-reading my journal this morning, and flashing back to that time. Nitro didn't eat on his own for 10 days! At that time, I wasn't sure we'd get through it, was sure we'd made a mistake. But then came the entry that he RAN across the yard and you couldn't even tell he had 3 legs! For us it was one step forward, two steps back for the first few months; but that was almost 2 years ago.
I was terrified to pick him up from the vets, afraid to see the incision, afraid to see him.....but he came hopping down the hall, with his adorable red harness on and my tears became tears of joy! Good luck today, keep us posted.
Paula and Nitro
Nitro 11 1/2 yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms. Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

Well Molly is home and resting! Hadn't really moved around much at the vets and they said she wouldn't entertain food or water but think she was sulking as within half hour of being home she had pottered to the garden, done a poo and wee and drunk half a bowl of water!
The only way is up from here!
Hooray for Molly! Glad she is back home where she belongs. Sunny ate some of his regular dry food last night when he got home, but today I found I had to mix in a little wet food to entice him to eat. That said once I did that he ate everything. I'm assuming because of all the meds he isn't hungry or he is just playing me for a fool. 🙂
Yeah for Molly & Sunny! Glad to hear that both of them are doing so well!

Donna, Glenn & Murphy
Murphy had his right front leg amputated due to histiocytic sarcoma at 7 years old. He survived 4 years, 2 months & 1 week, only to be taken by hemangiosarcoma at 11 1/2 years 6/12/17

As time goes by, you will " forget" that she only has 3 legs. They are so adaptable. Unfortunately, we Humans worry. Dogs do not. They just get up and keep on going. I won't tell you not to worry, as you will anyhow. That's just how we operate.😀 I wasn't shocked at all when I got Ty after his surgery. He was bandaged so I could not see the wound, but truthfully, I was just so darn happy to see him. So happy to have him home.Once I realized that his leg was causing him pain, I just wanted it off. I wanted him to feel better. The first 2 weeks of recovery are a bit rough, but once you get through that, she should adapt well. I now have my second Tripawd and he can do most anything he wants. Well, what I will let him do. He runs and jumps and plays with the Grandkids. Lastly, keep close here. It is so comforting to talk with those who have been where you are heading. Lori, Ty and Gang
TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.

So Molly had a great day yesterday - was getting her confidence on 3 legs and seemed fairly comfortable! Today she seems to have taken a step back. She's more unbalanced but the bruised area around her wound which appeared better yesterday has today gone very red and quite angry looking and she keeps going to lick it! Is this a normal part of the recovery process? We see the vet in 2 days for a post op check!
Not a vet, but I think some greater discoloration is normal. Is there any discharge or unusual swelling/smell? Can you put boxer shorts on her to prevent licking? Molly is now getting the hospital meds out of her system so you might see more discomfort. Stay in touch with your vet, many of us have had to work with our vet to adjust pain meds as we move through the recovery process. Our worst day was about day 5, it started to turn around thereafter. Good luck!

Hoping Molly got a good report today at the vets. The first week or two can be rough, plus the meds sometimes make them act strange. Please keep us updated on how Molly is doing.
Sending hugs,
Joan and her angel, Lily
Our beautiful Lily was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg on 12/14/11 at age 8 and had amp on 12/16/11. She completed 5 rounds of carbo. She was so brave and kicked cancer's butt daily! She lived life fully for 4 years, 3 months, and 15 days after her amp. My angel is a warrior princess. I miss her so much.
