Awww I'm sorry he's hurting. Don't panic, stay calm, tomorrow will be here before you know it. In my non-vet opinion what he is showing very likely isn't an inability to walk on three, but his pain is so severe he just feels crappy. It really is excruciating pain, can't blame the poor guy. Our Jerry was the same way right before amputation.
I'm so glad the surgery is tomorrow, he will get his sparkle back once he feels good again. That may not happen right away, the pain meds can dull his personality (and appetite), but he will get there. If you are concerned let your vet know today and see if there is room to bump up his medication until tomorrow.
Stay strong! I'm in the Tripawds Chat for a bit if you want to talk.

Thanks Jerry, as suggested I didn’t push him to go outside at his 10’am appt with the outdoors. Just let him rest and made him some eggs and bacon. Did take him out at 2 as I wanted to give him more pain meds wanted him to just have an afternoon nap. It did go better than what I have been seeing over the last few days.
Yes, sometimes it's just the "smallest" tweak here and there in their routine makes a noticeable difference in a pawsitive way. Good job!!

Good Evening, just wanted to provide a quick update. We had surgery yesterday which was a significant relief. It went as planned. He has been doing well. As the surgery was preformed late day yesterday they have kept him for a second night. I did just speak with the surgeon and his words were “he motored down the hallway”. He was happy with Gator’s progression and expects to discharge him tomorrow.. Although we talked about it will feel good for him to know he will be at home once again.
We will have lots of rest time and tripawd ebook reading this weekend.
thank you all again for all your support and guidance

Hoppy Motoring, Gator! You've got this! Vrrrrroooom!
I'm so happy surgery went well. And that he gets to stay a second night, that's a big relief for you too. More time to prepare emotionally and your house too! If you have any questions at all just let us know OK? Thank you for buying the e-book! Keep us posted.

Good evening, Gator got home this afternoon and is resting. We have been outside once today and trying to figure this out together. We used a towel at the vet and at home to help him around. I assume it is a common feeling to wonder that he will be okay on three and eventually get it figured out and balance himself. Early indications having me questioning how hard this is going to be. We do have an assessment arranged for Physio on this coming Thursday. They will assess him head to toe and provide a recommended plan. The surgeon recommended to start in two-three weeks but I think it will be okay as I questioned the Physio and confirmed it was just an assessment and not a workout and they also felt they could give me some helpful tips specific to him. Which I welcomed.
He is having no problems eating or using the washroom.
thanks for any words of Wisdom on clumsy dogs working it out on three.
Blessed he is home and that I have the flexibility
Hey I'm in the Tripawds Chat talking to a new member in the same situation. Come on over! I'll be back with more feedback in a bit.

I'm so happy that Gator is home! YAY! And doing so well already? WOW! Seriously, going potty, AND eating? That's incredible for a first day home! Celebrate these very important and pawesome accomplishments!
And YAY for the physio consult on Thursday. When a new Tripawd gets assessed so soon after recovery it really kicks things off in the best way possible.
Eventually, he will be more balanced, and gain more stamina. It just takes time, and more days getting used to being on 3 while being on pain medication too. Try to put yourself in his paws to see how much effort it takes to move around with one less limb. Seriously, get down on all fours. Lift up the "leg" he is missing and try to move around! It's a neat way to understand what he's going through.
Stay strong. Relax. Breathe. You are doing GREAT! Enjoy the couch time and don't expect too much right now. Keep things light, slow, and easy. In time you'll see his sparkle and his balance come back.
Let us know how he does this weekend!
