Hi, Everyone!

It's been a while since I posted here, but I have been around and keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers! Happy had his left front leg amputated last December 21 as a result of having a nerve sheath tumor in his shoulder near his spine. He had 5 weeks of radiation starting three weeks after surgery. He has done very well! He still is doing well, except he has developed a painful situation in his lower back, where he has some inflammation and scar tissue between vertebrae, causing nerve pain. I wish he wasn't struggling, but it is manageable and somewhat treatable, and his spirits are still good. He still wants to play a lot, but then I have to keep him from overdoing it..Looking for a way to get him to swim without swimming down to a difficult place to get out, like where the tree roots spiderweb down into the river..Just wanted to keep in touch with you guys..life has been so busy..My special boy has done very well. Thinking of you guys..

Happy looks so...happy!! laughing  Glad to hear your boy is doing well!  It's hard to keep our Tripawd pups from playing when that's all they want to do!  Give your boy a nice belly rub for me!

Oh, it's so good to hear a great update about handsome Happy! Sounds like he is loving life.

Hope he continues to do well and you can manage his pain. Have you thought of trying accupuncture? We never got to where Abby needed it, but others here have said it worked wonders.

All the best,
Jackie, Angel Abby's mom

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

Oooh! Happy we love your pics! I think we have a calendar boy for 2013 big-grin

Sorry to hear about the inflammation - there are some good things to try to help it; acupuncture like Jackie said and various western drugs maybe can help.

Sending hugs and treats to you both

I was just thinking about Happy the other day- wondering how he was doing. I'm glad no news is pretty much good news!

My 12 year old quad pug has arthritis in her back and legs, and chiropractic treatments have really helped her. It is hard to convince her that she can't do everything she wants to anymore.

It's so nice to see a happy dog enjoying life! So glad it's all going well. I haven't had acupuncture on my dogs but I have had it on myself. It can certainly be a big help with managing pain.

Yowza! Happy, you look so fantastic! Just seeing your handsome face makes us all smile from ear to ear.

I'm so glad that things are going well and you are back to your favorite activities in life. I can't think of anything better after becoming a Tripawd than chasing tennis balls and swimming in a favorite lake. What a great life you have my friend, congratulations! It's really great to hear from you, don't be a stranger OK?

P.S. Maybe some acupuncture could help with that creakiness? Just a thought.

Thanks, everyone! Y'all have been here through everything and I truly and grateful to know you all through our common experience. I am going to be trying accupuncture very soon. He does not respond well to pain meds, and I don't like them anyway. He has been getting really sore on our short walks, and then gets sick from the meds..so I'm hoping this, plus the recent rain we're getting clearing out the lake a bit so he can swim, will be better. Thank you all for the support!
