Our front leg tripod German Shepherd dog, Zena, loves bone shaped chew toys but struggles to hold them with only one front leg. I jam them into the top of a big treat ball and now she can get a good grip and enjoy her chew.

BRILLIANT CONCEPT!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 GRRRRREAT IDEA!!! 🙂 Well done!!

And Zena is a beautiful "model" who really knows how to demonstrate this perfect "bone holder"!

Thanks so much for sharing this! My Frankie is a front legger and he handles the bone chewing fairly well by nestling the slimy thing in between my sofa cushions! Ugh! This is a much better idea!!! 🙂 🙂

And Zena's little buddy is adorable!

Hugs!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Thanks folks, I am glad you like it.

Yeah, I have also used sofa cushions, lol. She always used to struggle so badly with chews and could never really manage it. She used to try to sort of rest it on her chest.

Yes, Zena is a beauty. And the cute little fella watching on is dear Spadge. He lives his life thoroughly unimpressed with everything his new sister does, lol.

Oooooh, pretty Zena!!!  She's missing the same leg as Ginger is.  Thanks for the video tip on chew toys.

Joined forum after Ginger, 2 1/2 year old German Shepherd, had front leg shattered by car on 4/1/17. Front leg amputated on 4/5/17. Still learning to be a tripawd mom.

Oh yes, look at your dear Ginger. They are the same.

How is your girl getting on? I see from your sig that she is a new amputee. Zena is about 4-5 months post amputation.

I love this - thanks for sharing!

I work in a local natural pet food store and lately I've been staring at chews and bones, wondering how my soon-to-be-tripawd is going to manage her weekly bone quota with one front.

I will have to get something similar for her!

Ohhh, so glad it helped smiley

The one I used was the large Starmark treat dispensing chewball. They are quite squashy you see, and even though the top hole doesn't look large enough, you can quite easily get a medium to large nylabone type chew in them.
