I'm new and wanted to share a tip. we just found out 2 days ago about the cancer probability 🙁

Our dog hates booties and anything on his paw pads. I've see the 'dog toe grips" online but for $30 some dollars I was like no way.

for about $15 you can get Latex Tubing at menards, lowes or Homedepot. Then I just cut them into small bits and glue them onto his nails. They last for weeks! and with 10 feet of material its super cheap to keep making them. Without gluing them on they only lasted about a week.

I just cut them and make sure that the tips of the nails on the bottom are covered. The part that would touch the floor.

We have wood and tile floors that these help a lot on. Also at vet vists he slips much less.

Now that's an interesting idea! I would love to see a picture of your pup wearing them if you can share. Here are instructions for adding images to the Forums.

The only thing is I would be very watchful to make sure that fungus doesn't grow under the tubing.

Welcome, by the way! Tell us more about your pup. We're glad you registered as a member and look forward to helping out any way we can. Your future posts won't need approval so post away.

Thanks for sharing the photo, that's quite inventive! However....I'm going to be a Debbie Downer here, but I need to caution you about something....

Please watch his toes and more importantly, his nails very, very carefully. If the tubing squeezes or impinges on the nail bed, it can cause big problems. We've seen dogs lose digits over damaged nail beds, so check them daily.

I love DIY projects myself and I'm the queen of frugal. But the reason Toe Grips cost what they do is that the company put lots of time and research into the getting the grips' material, sizing and thickness just right so that they don't interfere with a dog's body mechanics. Please use care with this and any DIY device.
