Firstly, and most importantly, I really want to apologise for not updating sooner. You've all been so supportive and so kind and generous with your time and comments. I really am sorry that I didn't get back to you before. There is a bit of a reason (though it's by no means an excuse) in that I don't have internet access at home at the moment (bar a single and rather sporadic dot of mobile phone signal), which means I have to go to the cafe in the village to post, and as Meg has been constantly falling over, I haven't felt able to leave her.
I'm sorry to say that she is not really any better. Her leg is still buckling as though unable to support her, and I am not convinced that we have got to the bottom of what is going on. I think it's probably time to get a scan, though my heart sinks at the prospect. She's extremely hyper, especially in the evenings, which is doing my head in a bit, to be honest, and although I obviously understand she's frustrated from not being able to exercise, I'm worried it might also be her way of trying to tell me that she's in pain. She is enjoying going out in the stroller, which is brilliant, though Elsie's not happy about it at all, and trots along shouting beside us.
Thank you, everyone, for thinking of us and sending your thoughts and good wishes. Brittnie, I LOVED what you said above and felt a great sense of solidarity, which was both empowering and comforting. Thank you. And thanks too for asking for pics (you POPPET!). I am only too happy to oblige... Thanks Jackie, Karen, Paula, Michelle and Linda... your support and warm wishes are hugely appreciated. Sally, I am sorry to hear about Frankie's problems. How I'd love to give him (and you) a big ol' MegaHug. I know you understand only too well the particular challenges of being Mum to a Tripawd of the OTT variety.... I hope you can find some solutions soon.
Much love to you all from the three of us (and apologies, again, for not updating sooner),
Meg, Clare and Elsie Pie (who truly believes she is suffering worse than anyone) xxx
Ruby, Staffy, born June 2022, became a Tripawd, November 2023, adopted January 2024.
Also Angel Tripawd Meg (aka The Megastar), who died in April 2023, aged 14, after seven glorious years on three, and Angel Staffies Elsie Pie and Bille. In the pawprints of giants...
Hi Clare, no need for apologies, I am sorry you are having such a rough go of it! You know, when you pull a muscle or a tendon it really does take time to heal. When you have an energetic pup like Meg, it is even harder. She doesn't understand that she needs to slow down for a bit, she just wants to keep going. You poor thing, between the both of them it sounds like they are exhausting every inch of you. I giggled at Sally saying you need to get in shape to carry both at the same time... just gave me a hysterical visual It must be wearing on you though. And to top off no internet, omd I would probably be banging my head against something by now! I truly hope Meg starts showing some signs of getting stronger. I can only imagine how worried you are after what has already happened. Hang in there, sending positive energy your way

Hello Clare and super Meg-a-Star
My lovies I’m sorry to hear that Meg is feeling poorly and not able to be her spirited hoppy self right now! We all understand your fears right now and are sending huge amounts of loving healing energy to you over in good old Blighty!
What a hellish drive that must be for you all to go to your (no personality or empathy) clinics! They need a good kick in the arse with a golf shoe!!! (replaying Sally’s video in my head!!!) Give ‘me the good old Brit’s attitude right back!! If only they knew what a solid rock you are! You know the old saying.... “Keep Calm & Carry On!” (That’s AFTER you’ve kicked their arse!!!)
Ignore the negative Nellies! Know that you have a whole community surrounding you with hugs and pawsitive energy from around the world!
Mega Hugs to you all, but very special cuddles to our Meg-a-Star
Love from Petra, Stewie and his Pack
Oh my gosh Clare no need too apologize! Internet challenges are so frustrating. You've got enough going on.
When you say she's hyper what do you mean exactly? Just wondering.
You've probably already tried this but some interactive dog games may help tire her mind out enough to keep her calm as she heals (which of course she will!). Elsie Pie can benefit from it too!
Before you contact Eddie's Wheels let your rehab therapist know this is what you are thinking. You don't want to buy a chart without working in conjunction with a therapist.
Stay strong my friend. Healing can take time. If it decreases your worry then yes, get a scan, so that way at least you'll know what you're dealing with.
We are thinking of you and sending lots of hugs and love.

Oh Clare, dear sweet Clare, I know this is so worrisome to say the least. Obviously Meg isn't worried, that worthless emotion is saved for us humans. And then you have Elsie Pie being all bummed out because Meg gets to ride in thr stoller and she doesn't!! That Pie.....there is only one Pie! 🙂
I looooove the picture of Meg in her Chariot! She looks perfectly content! It's wonderful to hear she's adapted to it so wuickly....even if Elsie Pie hasn't! You may have to get one of those carrisgrs made for human twins so Elsie can ride in it too.
My "guess" as to why Meg is more restless at night would be more in line with pent up energy that she didn't get to release during the day. She's usually pretty worn out from being wild and crazy during the day. Now she has to seetle down for the night without being able to run circles around Elsie Pie! I think if it was pain, there would be other "symptoms" like not eating, not wanting treats, etc.
Call me eternally optimistic, but in the whole scheme of things, there still has not been enough recovery time for these types of things to heal...especially when the only front leg available is involved!! Even though you've limited her activity greatly, itt going to take a longer time to recover as she obviously still has to use it.
And I HAVE to say this...HAVE to!! Even if Meg does have to be more limited in her activity for a longer while, she wouldn't miss out on all the MAGNIFICENT WILD AND CRAZY times she has had since amputation for ANYTHING....for A.N Y T H I N G!! Maybe you can look at it this way....she is " maturing". She may even be more "mature" than you know because she adopted you and you don't really know her age. Shhhh.....don't bri g it to Meg'd attention...shhhh...she does have some frosty arou d her muzzle. Point bei g, that the ageing process itself makes us slow down. We don't like it, but we accept it (maybe not with as much grace as dogs). Meg does care about is beie with you and, I guess, and being with Elsie Pie
We certainly understand not having access to internet, okay? And it's not always exactly "pleasant" posting when you don't have better news. HOWEVER CLARE, when you do post and we only get TWO pictures....JUST TWO PICTURES...R U NUTS??? NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! Bare minimum, we expect...no DEMAND....a minimum of FIVE PHOTOS AND AT LEAST ONE VIDEO!! MINIMUM!! And furthermore, if you do any less than FIVE, then we DEMAND TWO VIDEOS! Are we clear??????
And be clear on this also...WE ALL LOVE YOU AND MEG AND THE ELSIE PIE DEARLY!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 WE ARE ALL RIGHT BY YOUR SIDE ALWAYS!!! I know you know that...but make sure you FEEL it non-stop! When you actually FEEL it your energy takes on an empowering vibe and lifts your spirits. You already know that though, because that's what you do for us all the time
LOVE FEST GOING ON OVER HERE FOR OTT MEG-A-STAR
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Oh Clare
I was so hoping this was a update that Meg has recovered fully & was ok.
Did the Gaba help at all? I think you will feel better to have a xray or scan and figure out if something more is happening?
As Sally has pointed out it makes total sense the one leg would need more time to heal it never gets a true rest. I WOULD be a bloody mess with Meg falling over.
I think if you know one way or another you can move forward in not such a panic state. This is just me but NOT knowing is what bugs me more! We can get a solution or work on one if something else is happening. If not GREAT then even more relief, that’s how I cope anyway. If her leg is buckling wouldn’t a brace be a option before the wheels.
It still comes back to why is the leg buckling to begin with😒.
I love the black and white of Meg in her Carriage. Meg looks a little sad with her Kong.
What we missed is the Elsie Pie barking at her side😉 I think Miss Pie needs a side car ?
Let us know what you decide from here, I am checking in as I can.
Much Love & healing thoughts and wishes coming your way!
Give Both the girls extra love from us!

Holly & Purrkins❤️
OH I was so hoping there would be some improvement. I'm with Holly in that I always want to know what I'm facing because knowledge is power. You never know either, a scan may well show whatever is going on isn't as bad as where your brain is going now. Because we all know what a curse it is to have our brains go to the worst place first don't we? But however it turns out I know you will move heaven and earth and move to adapt to whatever happens with our Megastar. Like the stroller.....see adapting already. Praying it's just temporary and a "for now" kind of thing. You know we're all standing right next to you holding your hand and Meg's paw. We're with you!! Sending all the positive vibes the universe has to offer along with all my love to all three of you! All our Angels are watching over all three of you too! Now that's a whole lot of caring souls so Meg absorb all that LOVE!
xxxooo
((()))
Clare, thanks for the update and the adorable pictures! Meg is so cute! I can see her energetic spirit bubbling to the surface, and am sure it's tough to keep her contained and calm! Let us know if you find any answers, and I hope in the meantime that Meg starts feeling as good as she looks! 🙂

I loved life as a tripawd for over three years following right forelimb amputation due to an aggressive and recurrent hemangiopericytoma. I reclaimed my place among the gods and valkyries in Valhalla on November 11th, 2020. My parents miss me tremendously, but I know they'll keep me in their hearts forever... and don't worry, I've approved my mom's use of my Tripawds account.
Thank you SO much everyone. Your support and understanding make ALL the difference in the world to us. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I have to say I'm feeling a lot more positive today. It seems to me that things are starting to improve. I started to sense it yesterday evening. Nothing definite I could put my finger on, just the same way you sense a change in the weather, but today Meg is DEFINITELY more stable on her feet. In fact, she's only fallen over a couple of times, and then more of a stumble than a full-on fall. I think all the love and healing thoughts have reached us across the ocean (and down from the angels - thank you, Linda ❤️) and are starting to do the trick. Obviously, I need to be SUPER careful she doesn't go berserk and overdo it, but things are definitely improving.
Moreover, I was looking through some video footage (in response to Sally's 'demand' above... ), and I came across this from just over three weeks ago. It seems inconceivable that there can be anything very much wrong with the Megsta's front leg, I mean in terms of it deteriorating (and especially the elbow). I think the rehab vet may be right that Meg has bruised a toe badly, or something like that, and that she's changed her posture to try and avoid putting weight on it, and that's why she is falling over. This is obviously MUCH less worrying than something fundamental giving out in her leg, and frankly the way she carries on, it's a wonder things of this nature don't happen more often.
So, in a spirit of gratitude and celebration, here is a little film, I made from the footage... plus three extra photos. Really, Sally, you KNOW how much I hate posting them, but you will insist on making these demands... ❤️

Awwwwww! YAY! It's Meg the Keystone Leaf Cop!
I'm so hoppy to hear the pawsitivity in your outlook and how she's doing. And you're right, she does look so good that it seems hard to imagine any kind of serious degeneration could happen in just a three week span. I'm voting for a bruised toe!

Now MEG *stern voice* Just cuz you are feeling better, don't go buck wild and overdo it, hear me? Mama needs some rest now, she would probably be much happier if you were a foot warmer instead of the Tasmanian devil !
Elsie, your beautiful face melts my heart. Be a dear would you? If your sister tries to go buck wild, sit on her like you did the exercise thingy *wink* I KNOW you wouldn't get ANY pleasure in that, would you??
Clare, thank you for passing out all of these smiles today, I am so glad things are finally taking a good turn!
