Elvis is on Rimadyl for joint stiffness and soreness. He has been on for quite awhile. We do regular blood checks as Rimadyl can affect the liver. It really really helps him. I have tried glucosimin and he does not tolerate pills. Well he does not take the pill form well. Its more like a contortionist trick to get them down him. I found a snack that had glucosimin and chondroitin in it and he loves these. I just started a few weeks ago and it is too early to tell if it is really helping or not.
My vet has said a baby asprin is ok for dogs. I have used it regularly on pets, but it does not help near as much on Elvis as rimady. Hope this helps.

FYI: Aspirin is not recommended for dogs recovering from surgery or during chemotherapy as it is a blood thinner and can cause complications.
