Tipper is almost 2 month post amp. (Yay!) I am willing to put time into exercise, core work, balance, etc - but will already be paying off surgery and treatments for a while.

Any around the house or human gear helpful for exercise?

Any guides for workouts that do not require the expensive dog equipment?

I'm sure lots of people will chime in for you! There are a lot of stretches and exercises that can be done at home and with very little equipment, but they are probably best learned from a rehab therapist first. But there is The Maggie Moo Fund for Tripawd Rehab going on right now too! So you could go see and certified rehab therapist and get a consult and come up with a rehab plan that could be done at home! Hopefully this helps.

Best of luck!

Rats! I just posted a reply and got the Please Sign In page, so I guess I was kicked off. That hasn't happened in quite a while. Now to figure out what I said.

After Murphy had his total hip replacement, he did weeks and weeks of rehab therapy. Once we had learned the things he needed to do, we were able to improvise some things at home. We bought a balance circle at the used sporting goods store and cut a plywood square to make a wobble board (NOT Murphy's favorite exercise). We also made a Cavaletti course using 4x4s and garden tools.

I definitely would recommend, though, that you get an evaluation done before you try these things on your own, since Murphy's rehab regimen was geared to his special needs.

Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Now I managed to do everything double. Guess someone read the first post before I made what I thought were additions. Oh well!

No worries Kathi, I cleaned it up for ya. Thank you so much for sharing these. I'm curious, how did you get your videos back on YouTube? Glad they ended up being there!

I had everything transferred from the old computer to my laptop and then uploaded them (again) to youtube. Still a lot more to put on there, but at least this got me started. Unfortunately the Granny Bump isn't there.

Thanks, Jerry, for fixing my kerfluffle. And thanks, Sally, for being here for all of us. We miss Gus and Murph, too.

Ditto on missing those boys.

Wow Kathi that is a LOT of work to do that again, but thank you from the bottom of my heart and from all of us, they are so helpful to the Tripawds community.

Thanks for piping in, everyone!

I just realized I initially wrote "two months" post amp instead of two weeks, or almost one month. I lost track of time in the past month while celebrating Tipper's recovery.

We had our 1 month ampuversary a week ago and head for chemo #2 tomorrow. I am reading up and starting small while Tipper continues to get stronger. 🙂
