Hi I'm new and wasn't quite sure where to post this. My name is Helen and I recently adopted a tripawd named suzie and she is the best. I actually started out fostering her when she got her amputation and I fell in love with her. She was running loose as a stray and someone shot her, the people that found her kept her for four days with no medical intervention and then turned her in to the humane society who took her to the vet they tryed to save her leg but were unsuccessful. But that doesn't bother her she is the happiest dog I have ever met, she loves everyone and everything we introduce her to. I do have a few questions thou first of all when is a good time after surgery to start obedience training? She just had surgery on june 29th. Any suggestions on keeping her off of furniture I'm so afraid she is going to hurt herself again and that would be very very bad for her. And are there any products and supplements you all can recommend that would be beneficial to her?

Suzie has been through so much. She's traveled a long road to get to you, someone who knows the true love of caring for a dog, what a lucky girl! Your questions are great, and we can totally relate. Our Wyatt Ray came to us after a similar rough road, and needed a lot of work to learn how to live with the pack.

Wow. Sounds like Suzie won the lottery! Good for you for fostering and then adopting! She sounds like a great dog. What type of dog is she? How old? Where's her picture? 🙂 I don't really have any answers for you, just more questions! =)
I would think you could take her to an obedience class once she is completely healed, staples out, off meds, all that good stuff. I'd probably wait a few more weeks myself just to be sure she can handle the excitement of the other dogs and the demands of the class. My dog was still a bit fatigued at 3 weeks out but he had started chemo too so who knows what was causing the fatigue. Can't wait to hear more about Suzie!
