Best of luck to you and Marley! The age shouldn't be a concern, just search for "Sami" in the blog, she's pushing 15. The knee is another issue ... difficult decisions indeed!

Amputation will relieve the tumor pain, and buy extra time. If Marley is otherwise healthy, he should be able to handle recovery.

Hi Marley Flynn:  Ivan did very well recovering from his amputation and two knee surgeries, and we don't regret going through any of them.  It takes some patience, but Ivan's spirit remained high throughout, and he was well-loved through all.  He had the kindest surgeon, Dr. Carlson, and recovery staff at Berkeley Dog and Cat that we could have ever dreamed of.

Sadly, the cancer spread very aggressively and quickly over last weekend, going to other bone, not just the lungs, and we had to say goodbye to our beloved Ivan this Tuesday.  We had hoped for a longer time with our precious companion, so he would have longer to enjoy the benefits of his surgeries, but he had the highest quality of life we could give him.  I know for us the surgeries to fix his knees were the right choice, because he did so well, but whatever choice you make will be right for you.

Our best thoughts and prayers are with you.

Ivan's Mom,

I have just read your update on Ivan.
Just wanted to extend my condolences to you.  Ivan was a lucky boy to have such wonderful care.

I am sorry for your loss , since I know you tried everything, and gave him a fighting chance to beat this cancer.

Another hero, waiting at the bridge...

Sending you some hugs,

Kim & Buster

Dear Ivan's Mom,  I am so sorry for your loss.  Ivan was a brave boy.  He fought very hard.  You had given him every chance you could have possibly given to help him fight.

Thoughts and prayers are with you.  Hugs.
