Hello and welcome! Don't worry about your English, it's fine! So my questions for you are:

When did your dog have the amputation and why?

how old is your dog?

Does your vet know your dog is having problems moving?

Where in Italy are you? We have a very knowledgeable veterinarian pain management friend in Italy, I can try to arrange a meeting with you both onlinr here or maybe in person if you are close.

we will try to help as best we can but if youcan give us a little more information about your dog that would help. Oh and what's his name?!

Hi Jerry,
Thank you for your answer.
My dog is called Race and now moves very little.
two years ago he had a high grade chondrosarcoma and was amputated hind leg.
the dog is 5 years old now.
I live in Perugia, I am interested to hear your veterinarian, to meet in person or talk by phone.
You can leave a contact?
thanks a lot

Hi Giacomo and Race!

This is a great place for information and support.

The vet can perhaps give him some pain meds and gentle exercises to help.

Does he seem in pain ?

Is he eating and drinking okay?

Have you tried a harness or sling to help him up?

Also, some very gentle massage and stretching.

Have you had him checked out for any back issues, or rear leg issues?

The picture of Race is very handsome! Clearly you love him very much!

Sending love to you and Race!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Hi benny , thanks for your interest. We have already given a cycle rymadilbe, Previcox but just stop Race worsens again. I do not want to do it live with anti-inflammatory. massage and stretching sessions daughters I make them do. But he has stopped using the leg behind, perhaps because he has a kidney not put very well that we are taking care of. I would try to train him with specific exercises to get it back to move ..

croquettes sometimes stop eating them and I have to combine them with canned stewed to entice him to eat, you also recommended a specific diet?

Giacomo, I apologize, the Italian vet I was thinking of is currently in Germany, but his specialty is pain management so I believe he can discuss options for you in Italian. I will make an introduction over email.

Meanwhile, keep in mind that it's not necessarily a bad thing to have your dog on anti-inflammatories if he needs them. Usually resolving a pain issue takes a little bit of medication, a little bit of exercise and dedication.

I see you are in the chat room , I will converse with you there.
