So many people recommended the Ruffwear WebMaster that I blindly got one for our new tripawd. Something just didn't seem to fit him right though and after watching some YouTube videos I seen that the harness goes through his right front leg...which my dog no longer has.

Anyone else with a front right amputee that uses a harness? It needs to be able to support his weight of 50# (I need to lift him from time to time)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mike,

The Ruffwear Webmaster is for use with all types of Tripawds no matter which leg they are missing. It wasn't designed specifically for Tripawds, but in the 10 years we've recommended it, I can't think of anyone who has had an issue with it specifically because it was not working on a right front amputee.

Even though your dog is missing a right front, it is still totally functional and absolutely will support him (it was designed for search and rescue dogs).

Have you put it on your dog yet? You have a big advantage in that you don't need to ask your dog to put his leg through that leg loop, so it's super easy to put on your pup.

If you would like to chat about it feel free to give us a call (707.845.3129) or reach out via private message.

Makes perfect sense once you explained it.

I think it was just coincidence that the videos I watched were all left leg amputees and everyone was saying to put the right leg through the opening.

I've put the harness on him, but am having troubles with adjusting it.  As a husky he has so much 'fluff' I can't tell if it's too loose or tight.  Watched some more videos and will attempt again this afternoon.

Today is the 8th day since his surgery so I am learning as he is.

Thank you for your reply!

Just want to add to be careful with the incision diner its  just day right.  You may need to incision site with a tee shirt when using the harness.  Or maybe use a towel sling for another few days until rhe sutures come out.

Wjat was the reason for your pup's amputation?  How  mobile is he? So etimes front leggers meed a little more ti e yo fet their sea legs.  What ki d od pajn meds is he on?  He should only be up for potty breaks and then back to rest, rest, rest.

Cant wait to hear more about your tripawd hero!

He is wearing an old tee shirt and I check staples once a day.  Not a vet, but they appear to be good.

Our husky had soft tissue sarcoma.  Complete right front leg amputation, but biopsy showed no spread to lymph nodes so we believe him to currently be cancer free.  "Loki" turns 14 in a little over a month so definitely not as mobile as once before, but still likes to jog around from time to time.  Only outside and up for bathroom breaks with a small walk from the front to back of house.

Currently on Gabapentin for pain + an anti-inflammatory and an antibiotic.  Also gets a small amount of CBD oil.

This hit us really fast.  Less than 24 hours after we were informed what he had he was in surgery.  Like them or hate them we were very thankful for Amazon Prime and next day shipping!  It was a mad dash to do as much research as we could and order what we thought would be of best use to us and to him.  I see a lot of people claim the first 2 weeks are the worst.  After one week in I can attest to that statement, but we are all adapting and slowly making progress on a daily basis.

Very happy to have found this place!  So much knowledge that has definitely helped us with the transition.

Lokinis a cery lucky boy to have such a great advocate  willing to do whatever not takes to ensure he has a quality  pain free life!!   And YAY for no spread ro nodes!

You've really had a whirlwind week and uoj did a good job of preparing  for virtually no notice.  And btw, Amazon Prime and I are BFFs!

One tip you probably already know, if you have hardwood  floors make sure you get nonslip scatter rubs fot traction .  Raised food bowls are helpful  also.  You can just place it on a couple of books.

Huskies are a rough breed, even as three legged seniors!  Sounds like he's doing very well this early on.  Every dog is different and every recovery  is different.   I think it was day five before I finally slept for four hours straight.  It took me three weeks before I could finally  say   I did this FOR my Happy Hannah and not TO her.  Many people see a .lot of sparkle come back around the two week mark.  I can assure you this, once it does start coming back, it gets better and better

BTW, weve had several senior Huskys who did very well as tripawd.  We even had one or two ales dogs (well loved and well cared for  ) who would still do VERY SHORT runs with their hoomans and doggy pal.  Search under Calaprina pack...may have spelling wrong.

Oh cool, glad it sounds like it will work for Loki. You want it to be snug enough that you can comfortably slide about two fingers underneath the straps.

Senior dogs typically take a little longer to recuperate but Loki should do great based on the other Huskies who have joined us. Here's some posts about Calpurnia, one of our first Husky Heroes!

Sounds like Loki's got pain medications under control, that's awesome. Yeah, the diagnosis can make your head spin but it sounds like you guys are doing great. Keep us posted.
