Does anyone know of any cheap harnesses that work well on front amp dogs, Kayla is only 6 months old so don't want to be paying too much at the moment till she fully grown but a leash just ain't working out. We tried just a standard harness but she just slips straight out of it. Any ideas welcome…….

Hi Sarah,
I don't have any harness suggestions, but have you checked the Angel Exchange forum here? Harnesses do tend to go pretty fast. You could post a 'Wanted' thread and see if anyone has a harness to exchange. If you do find one there you could offer it back when Kayla outgrows it.
The general rules there are that items can not be sold, but shipping costs can be negotiated.

I have a RuffWear Harness that I got via the Angel Exchange from Angel Daisy's (and Monkeybutt Samson's) mom. I have been meaning to put it up on the exchange… I would be happy to send it to you if you think it will fit. Is she still pretty small?? It's a M, so let me know if you think it would fit her. The instructions on the site say Med fits dogs w/ a 26" to 36" girth – measured at the widest part of the ribcage.
Let me know if you think that will work for her and I'll send it to you.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Abbysmom that is so sweet of you, thank you, I know it's not easy.
We are partial to the Ruff Wear Webmaster Harness, which you can get through our Tripawds Gear Blog if a used one isn't available in the Exchange.
We've used this harness on both front leg amputees and rear leggers, and neither one has been able to escape. The harness has a lot of room for adjustment, you may find that it will fit Kayla for a long, long time.

If Kayla is growing quickly, the medium harness may or may not work. The straps will have to be cinched all the way down with the long ends being tucked in. But it will definitely fit much better as she grows and should last her a while, if not forever, unless she gets really big!

I didn't realize you are in New Zealand. I knew we had some new members in the UK, but wow - we are really going international!
I looked at the post office web site - if I can get it into one of the big padded envelopes and send it "Priority" it won't be too bad (and no worries about paying for the postage). That will supposedly get it there in 6-10 days. If I send it any faster than that looks like it would end up costing more than the harness itself is worth. If the 6-10 day thing is ok, PM me your address and I'll send it to you. I can try to get it out in the mail today - although this will force me to get out of my pajamas...

I am so happy another TP will be able to use Daisys harness. Monkeybutt Samson (75 lbs) actually wore one of Daisys Mediums . I had all the straps let out to the very ends. Ken graciously sent me Spirit Coopers LG harness and it fits SO MUCH better. You should be able to use it for a while.

Thank you. It sounds like the harness will fit for a good while if your big boy could use it 🙂 but when or if Kayla gets too big we will be sure to pass it on to another Tripawd who can use it. By that stage it will be a well travelled harness, Our kids are so excited to know that Kayla is getting a harness from the other side of the world!!

And now the Tripawd Warrior Princess vibes have reached New Zealand! You are a also a true Tripawd Warrior Princess Kayla! Abby would be so excited!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Oh, she looks super adorable in it!
Abby would definitely approve!

Kayla looks fab in her harness. She now has the good juju vibes from both Tripawd Princesses Abby and Daisy. (Cause I am sure there is still Daisy Dalmatian hair on that harness)
Get that toy Kayla!!
