We lost Gus today... 5 months and 1 day post amputation. Not to Osteosarcoma! He got bloat this morning (twisted stomach / intestines) and it was a very sudden, very terrible case. I had him to the vet hospital within 30 minutes of his first symptoms and we still couldn't save him. I'm in complete shock. He was doing so well.
Heartbroken to hear this! Absolutely heartbroken! Yes, stunned and shocked!!!! We ALL cry with you today. So very, very, very sorry.
I have now words right now. Not tnat there are any words ever. Bloat comes up literally out of the blue and rarely does it turn out well, even with the earliest intervention. So brutal. So unfair.
I'm just so sorry.
For now, all any of us can do is surround you with our love and hugs. We love Gus❤

Nooo... oh man I am so terribly sorry. Bloat is horrible, damn. I am just so sorry. Gus was a great pup and you took wonderful care of him. My heart is breaking for you, I know you are devastated.
Sending you the biggest hugs that i can, I'm sitting here crying with you. Please find peace in such a dark sad time. Sometimes no matter how hard you fight their time just comes anyways.
I have no doubt your boy is being greeted by all of our angels and they will show him how to fly free and whole again.
With much sympathy and love,

Woah I am soooooo sad to read this! My heart goes out to you, bloat is so sudden and distressing. I know you must be feeling so shattered right now! Please know that you did everything to give Gus the pain-free life he deserved. He knew he was loved up until his last breath, no dog could ask for more in life.
If and when you feel up to posting a tribute to Gus in Coping with Loss, we would be honored to be part of the remembrance. I'm so very, very sorry for your sudden loss.

I was so sorry to read this-- I know that Gus was greeted by Otis and all of our other beloved pets when he crossed. As I've learned, there really is nothing like going through this experience and then having to say goodbye. It is so, so, so hard. My heart goes out to you, but I know that Gus was lucky to have you in his life and you did everything you could for him. It helped me a lot to make my post in Coping with Loss, so perhaps when you are ready you can share more. Sending you a big hug. I know that it will take a long time for you to be not sad, but I am wishing you comfort. Lots of love,
-Camille
I'm in complete shock!
Camille and Sarah, I send my deepest condolences. Gus and Otis were truly special companions and your love for them was so evident. I hope that happy days are starting to outweigh the sad, and that you've found some comfort since their passing. Hugs to both of you.

Yesterday was Chy's first wellness check post-amputation. Poor thing hates the vet's office, and hides underneath the benches behind my legs whenever we go. It always surprises me how she's able to slip into those kind of spaces. So far, so good. We're now a little over 7 months cancer free, which isn't totally surprising considering her prognosis. Nonetheless, I'm cherishing these extra days with her and hope that we have many more to come.
For being a now 13 year old girl, she has not lost the zest for life! Looking back I'm still glad that I made the choice to amputate and not put her down. She has done so amazingly well, and still makes me proud every day She gets around with ease, and has adapted to her life on three. She still waits at the bottom of the stairs for help, I know she can do them, but I think her confidence is shaken after taking a couple of spills. She's also learning to take the help needed for getting into the car. Sometimes I think she forgets that she doesn't have quite the jumping power she once did.
Chy's mom (((hug)))
So totally fabulous to hear from you!! I'm glad Chy got a clean bill of health, makes my heart feel good!!
So glad she is still spry and cautious when she needs to be.
Would love to see some pictures, happy anniversary girlie 💕❤️💕
Many hugs and much love to you all ❤️❤️

SWEET CHY❤ YAY FOR GOOD CHECK UPS. and YAY for your SEVEN MONTH AMPUVERSARY!! 😀 So happy to hear you are doing so well and thoroughly enjoying your tripawdness😎 You are such an inspiration, especially for "mature" pups.
And yeah, I love that she knows she needs to be cautious. As an "older" doggy, she knows taking a tumble on the stairs is not good.
Hope you got some nice cream and cake for your versary!!!
I know Otis and Gus are watching over Chy and making sure she continues to enjoy being Chy. We also kmow Otis and Gus are having a blast at the Bridge and feel like puppies!
Hugs
