Thank you all.  Today hasn’t been an awesome day either - started Gab yesterday afternoon.  Restless night, and then he crashed all day.  Still breathing faster than seems right, and occasionally agitated.  We see the vet tomorrow afternoon for staples out - which gives us a good chance to talk in person about the best drug combos and what’s safe for me to try.  He’s still got a lot of twitching at the amp site, which is clearly agitating him.  Poor guy.  This week, more than last, i’m Wondering if I made the right choice for him.  Damnit.

It’s great to hear about Otis - so helpful to hear everyone’s experience , so thank you all.  We need the encouragement right now!

Goodnight,

Sarah

Many of us here can relate to the second guessing at this point in the recovery!!  I was a big time seco d fuesssr!

My first post here:  "Help!   Six days poat amp and I fear I've made a HORRIBLE decision!"   I was exhausted, fearful and horrified that I had ruie whatever life my Happy Hannah may have!

It took three weeks before I cou4kd finally acknowledge I did this FOR my Happy Hannah and not TO her!!

Glad you have a Vet visit for stitche removal.  As odd as this sounds, sometimes pain can actually be caused by a staple poki g and pulling.

Trust us on this....And I know it's hard right now....You did NOT make a mistake!!   This temporary crash will get figured out. Keep massaging him all.over and gently around d the incision.

And DEFIW pull out the CHOCOLATE for yourself!!   This is the hard part kf recovery that pops up when we aren't expecting it.  We call it a roller coaster ride for a reaso !!

WE'RE WITH YOU AND  GUS WILL GET THROUGH THIS 🙂

Hugs

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Good morning Sarah,

I hope your night was better. Please hang in there, the staple removal alone is going to give him relief, getting the medications corrected to better manage his discomfort (which is temporary) will also make a huge difference. You are at the toughest part in the road right now to recovery but there will be a light at the end of the tunnel, hang in there. Soon you will have your Gus back and this will be behind you. Breathe...

Sending you biggest of hugs,

Jackie

So - a much better day!  Gus was’t doing at all well on the Gab, so after consulting with the vet, we took him back off of it, and it’s made all the difference. Also got his staples out. He’s still sleeping a ton but seems more comfortable and is more active.  This morning, harness on - we did the stairs and he spent the morning on my bed!  Seemed like the stairs were pretty easy once he made the decision to take the first step. No more sleeping in the living room on an air mattress! Yay!!  He also did a short run back inside after going to the bathroom.  he’s not super lively - still recuperating - but for the first time this week I have hope again that I’ll have my happy dog back shortly.

At the vet clinic he couldn’t WAIT to go back and say hello to all his new friends - the ones that took care of him after surgery.  It was pretty cute.  What a guy!

Yay!! So glad to hear that Gus is getting some of his spunk back. I can only imagine what it feels like to be back in your own bed. I've been sleeping on the couch close to Chy; we're both ready to go back to our normal sleeping spots! Her meds ended yesterday (still have some tramadol on hand just in case), and stitches come out Tuesdayclap.

Also, going down and up the stairs? Amazing!

Awwwww that does my heart good, YAY clapA little tweaking and staple removal can work wonders! One more major step behind you! I'm glad he's still sleeping a lot, sleep is what he needs to finish healing 🙂 That is just wonderful news, I'm so happy for you, keep up the good work!

Big hugs,

Jackie and Huckleberry ❤️

I think he's doing great!  I'm totally ready for a night or two in my own bed!  And next week I travel for work, so really glad he's able to get around a bit better before I go.  How's Chy doing? We had some rough days this week...

Chy's doing really well! Tomorrow stitches come out *does a happy dance*; she's so looking forward to not having to wear her cone/inflatable ring. Poor thing has had one on for more than a month between her biopsy site complications and healing from the surgery. We've transitioned off using her sling (except for going up stairs); she's getting so strong.

I also booked her an appointment for PT, so I'm really interested to see what we learn. They also do chiropractic services and acupuncture, so looking in to doing those too for maintenance.

How has the day been away from Gus? I would be a nervous wreck if I had to travel for work right now!

This is wonderful! We didn't have to use sling with Otis, but I can imagine that she's stronger than ever! Getting those stitches/staples out is a HUGE milestone! You'll all feel so good tomorrow! Good girl Chy, you are such a sweet girl!

I so wish I had a video to accompany this update, but today I saw Otis take off on a RUN! Some of our friends with toddlers came to see him and he was so excited to see his favorite little girls that he celebrated by running. It was a sight to see, you couldn't even tell he was on 3! Despite the fact that he ran three backyards away from the house, I was so happy to watch him!

He's now resting, but WOW the difference a month makes!

That is WONDERFUL news! clapclapI knew there would be light at the end of your long tunnel.. thank goodness big-grin Maybe you will be able to get video another time, but I am so happy for you. You have worked very hard for this! I look at my little Huck sometimes in total amazement, and I know that road felt like forever.. especially with all of the speedbumps you have had. You brought a smile to my face at the end of a long work day, sending you both big hugs!     Image result for hallelujah picturesImage Enlarger

Okay, I'll emabarrass myself if I try to congratulate Otis, Gus and Chy on all the individual victories (because I'll screw up who did what!), so I'll just say:

CONGRATULATIONS CHY! 🙂   CONGRATULATIONS OTIS! 🙂   CONGRATULATIONS GUS!:-)
