Hi all!  I have a 9-year-old Golden Retriever who is a front left leg amputee as a result of Osteosarcoma. We are 5 months post-op, and he is developing a callus on his remaining good elbow because he is only laying on his right side and slides down on the wood floors when he wants to lay down.  The vet recommended https://www.dog.....g-amputee/

Has anyone had any experience with this product or do you have any other recommendations that will help our boy? Thank you in advance.

Hi Charli!

Yeah hardwood floors are not a friend to Tripawds, both for the lack of traction and also for the pounding that remaining leg takes on the ground.

We recently wrote abouthygromas and Tripawds. It's so important to stop them from getting worse, which you are trying to do. According to Sheldon's vet Dr. Stockman, here's what she recommends:

Dog leggs can help in some circumstances. The concern with Dog leggs is the half sleeve version can cause irritation at the bottom of the brace. The full sleeve of Dog Leggs makes it difficult for three legged friends to rise from laying down. I tend to recommend OrthoPet braces as they provide a cushion against the skin but a hard outer portion of the brace that takes pressure off the skin itself.
