I'm a big advocate for food toys and puzzles so I put together a video of Elly playing some of her food games.

Elly is so smart!! What fun! Of course she's adorable too. You are a wonderful mom. 
Elly is clearly a pro at all of the games! I was in awe at how smart she was to pull apart the sections of the activity mat, how nimble she is in using her paws and teeth to unlock puzzles, and her determination to flip, roll, and nudge toys in her hunt for every last treat! Griffin lived an amazing life for 11 years! Diagnosed with osteosarcoma on March 17, 2020, Griffin's right forelimb was amputated on April 2, 2020. Ten days later he was running and playing fetch! Lung metastasis discovered in July 2020 did not slow down Griffin and he lived joyfully for the next 7 months, passing peacefully at home on February 11, 2021. https://griffin.tripawds.com

I like the lids game, and I have a bunch of those containers, so I think I'll try that soon.
My two cats seem kinda bored lately, and could probably stand to lose an ounce or two, so this is good timing.

You did such a great job with the video Karen, and explaining everything in Elly's blog. Like I said there, your house is the Disneyland for dogs, it's so much fun to watch her play with all the toys. And I agree that the lid game is pretty cool. I'm going to try that with Wyatt.

I CANNOT STAND ALL THISE CUTENESS AND ALL THE VRILLIANCE WRAPPED UP IN THIS LITTLE BITTU DOG!! She is soooooo smart!!
The way she works those food dispenser toys with such specificity on how to manipulate each design boggles my mind!
And to watch her pull tje drawers out, know g how to outsmart everything on that particular puzzle is plain brilliance! And that "puzzle" at the end where she so deftly gets into the pockets where the treats are...so clever.
Yeah, she's food motivated, but she is also absolutely having a blast too!! There is only one EllyTrpawdPugMutt, that's for sure!! And we love her!❤

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
LOVED THIS POST! The video of your Elly is amazing...what a smart girl she is! My Chance is a front leg amputation tripawd so wondering how some of these games would work for him...he can't really paw at the toys to uncover the treats. Guess he could use his nose.
I saw in your video that the white covers for your Tornado looked like they had a little string or something that Elly used to pull them up. Did you attach those? I checked the box and mine didn't come with any. I like the idea...might make it easier for him. Both of my dogs like the tornado but once I put those white covers on them, they are no longer interested. Of course, they may be just trying to get mom to do it for them!

Hi Sandra,
Yes I added the strings for Elly, her mouth is too small to get a good grip on those bones for Tornado. I put knots inside and outside the bones so the string won't fall out. Elly is good about not eating things that aren't food so I don't have to worry about that with her- and also it keeps me from losing them!
For a front amp you might try putting the puzzles on a stool or small table around nose height, something small enough he can get to the puzzle from all sides. That way he could use his mouth and nose to work the puzzle without putting too much stress on his neck.

My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019. With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer. I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud! He will live forever in my Heart!
