I’m looking for boot / shoe recommendations for a dog with dew claws.  Based on Amazon reviews it looks like ruffwear might not be a good option for dew claws.

Hmm. Do you want them just for regular walking or for snow and ice?

I know lots of dogs who have dew claws and wear the boots without any problem, our Wyatt included. The boots don't seem to irritate them at all.

I am looking for something for hot and cold weather.  It would mainly be for walks and nothing too extreme.  Occasional use in heavy snow when we travel to visit family.  A lot of reviews on amazon made it seem like dewclaws were an issue.  Maybe I just need to try them.

I see that our Fairy Vet Mother is chiming in. Thanks Dr. Pam! I know she has some input for boots like Therapaws.

It can't hurt to try them, you can always return if they don't work out. Whatever product you choose let us know how it goes.

I used Ruffwear for my first Mastiff Tazzie and they worked well.  My current Mastiff Julian is not a tripawd but needs booties because he has pressure sores on his feet; most of the ones I found even XXL did not fit over his dewclaw so I had to cut the side of the bootie to fit (UltraPaws fit him best).  Finally I measured his foot and contacted Therapaw and now he has custom "shoes" that are durable and fit him perfectly!

Pam and Jerry, thanks for the suggestions.  I am going to try ruffwear with socks and see how it goes.
