Fallon turns 12 this month!  I am going to splurge on an awesome bed for her.  We've been using fluffy beds, which she certainly uses, but I want something more suitable.

Does anyone have feedback on the Ruffwear Urban Sprawl bed vs the Big Barker ?  Seems I can't go wrong with one of these...right?

Any other suggestions for awesome beds?  I've read the reviews in the Gear Blogs, just having trouble making a choice.

Thanks!!!

Fallon  8/28/06--9/6/18.  My Heart.

Fallon's left front leg was amputated due to osteosarcoma on 10/11/17.

Fallon you sweetie pie 💓🐾

Your birthday is coming up and Mom is buying you a new comfy bed 🛏 you are a lucky dawg 🐶

Eurydice had a memory foam bed (like Tempur, for humans) I can't remember the make and am not sure if it is available in the States anyway.

I always heard really good feedback from others on the Barker bed.

What I do know is memory foam is fantastic because it adapts to their body shape and is solid enough for them not to slide when they get up and down the bed.

Maybe Rene can give you a hand on the choice available on the Gear Blog ?

Congratulations and please send us some pictures and videos of Fallon and his pawty celebrations 🎂🌭🍔🍗🍖🥩🥧🍦

Hugs and cuddles 😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹

I didn't have the money right away when Sassy had her amputation and wished I did.  I bought a Big Barker Bed (only 1) and all 3 of mine fight to get it.  (not literally) but they don't like to share.  Probably will be buying another one or 2.

Thanks so much guys!

@Teresa, I'll be sure to take lots of pictures at the pawty!  I'll make special treats and hopefully, we'll have nice weather and celebrate in the back yard, that is Fallon's favorite place!  I'll get the bed as soon as I figure out the answer to which one is best--no sense waiting on that!

@Luke, we're lucky, Fallon has never been a chewer!

@Michelle, I hear you about the $$$, it's tight for us after surgery/chemo/vaccine, but we've had a bit of a reprieve, so I'm gonna bite the bullet and finally get Fallon a worthy bed!  I am sure we'll want another for Maggie, but when things settle down financially a bit more!

That Big Barker seems to come in "flat" and "with a head rest"...Another factor to think through...

Rumour has it our Angels are removing all clouds from the area so Fallon can be out and about and enjoy all the treats!

@Michelle, that's a good consideration--Fallon and Maggie *will* share, although it's tight...Flat, no matter which bed, probably makes most sense.

@Teresa, Fallon's birthday is 29 August--a Wednesday.  We will be at her oncologist appointment the day before--I think we'll take cupcakes or cookies with a 12 on them for all our helpers there.  Fallon will more than deserve a pawty the next day, it is a long trip to the docs!

We'll appreciate the angel's help for fine weather!!

Wonderful!

The day is pencilled in, then 😉

Cookies as a Fallon’s gift to his team are a great idea, I bet he’s gonna be showered with kisses in return (he would even there were no cookies, I bet) 💋💋💋💋

Will raise a glass for Fallon and his loving family on the 29th 🥂

WOW, TWELVE? Holy guacamole that's amazing!

We have a couple of beds for Wyatt, the Ruffwear Urban Sprawl is his favorite. I've sat on it for long periods of time while sitting on the floor, and it is pretty comfy. Highly recommended!

Also a Big Barker Bed fan.  Especially good for larger dogs.  Have had one for going on six years with absolutely no change in support!!  Seriously has held it's  shape!  Also ordered a second one several years ago  to accommodate two more comfortably, and so I had some room to cuddle  with them too!

One had the headrest and the other one I ordered  without.  Definitely  kind of a tempurdic mattress for dogs.

A side note.  I had to call the seller on what was probably a shipping issue from Amazon abput rhe compression (it comes very compressed and then expands within  24 hours or less).  Anyway, it was NOT a big issue at all and I was completely  satisfied.   HOWECER, the seller offered  to send me another  one and told me I could keep the other one!!  Now that's  customer  service!!  I declined because  it wasn't  necessary, but WOW!!

And the one Wyatt uses looks like a really good one too!  If it has the Wyatt  Seal of Approval, you k ow it's  good!

Hugs

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

I just ordered the Big Barker .  It was the 7" thickness and the foam mattress that made the difference, although I liked the sizing and colors of the Ruffwear Urban Sprawl more.

Now off to deal with skunk smell.  Maggie got sprayed last night. poopicon_png We tried to deal with it then with a bath and essential oils, but didn't get it 100%.  I need to wash all the bedding--dog beds and people, Maggie set her stinky self everywhere.  Good girl Fallon didn't bother the skunk.  heart

Oooooooh! We can't wait to find out what she thinks! I'll bet you will love sleeping on it as much as she does.

Sorry about the skunk smell. That is the worst! Did you use the ol' peroxide recipe?

I just learned about the ol' peroxide recipe!  As soon as Paul gets home, I'm on it, because Maggie requires 4 hands for a bath.

We gave a good wash with shampoo, then used cider vinegar.  When that didn't work, I tried another bath with shampoo, Thieves and Purification oils.  It really only gave the skunk smell a different dimension.

On top of everything else, I'm cooking for the dogs today, so we have liver smell mixed in.  It's awful here today, but will get better!!

Side note about the Big Barker Bed customer service--they called me a few minutes after I pushed the button on the order to say thanks, see if I had questions, and provide all sorts of contact details for them, just in case.  Very nice touch.

OH MAGGIE!!  You better leave that skunk alone!!   I always have a vision of the skunk turning around and laughing  his butt off as he watches  the reaction of his "victim" 😂

When we were little, my younger brother went to,pick up a cute little black and white kitty...yeah...got sprayed by a skunk!  Seems like my Mom bathed him in tomato  juice???  I also remember  all of us wore that "scent" for  days!

Glad you had sich a nice experience  with customer service from Big Barker.  That was my experience  also.  I always  put a soft blankie throw on the bed when Frankie uses it. He's  a "nester" and likes something  to snuggle on.   the Big Barker cover isn't  all soft and plush per se...it's  built to last and for durability .

Can't  wait to see this birthday girl all sprawled out on her present!!
