We’ve had lots of rain here recently, the water level in the beck has risen, and the wind’s whipped up a good current - perfect conditions for the MegaStar’s favourite game...

BRAVO! That was so much fun watching her go after the ball!

Little Miss Fish is a great swimmer, she really is. That was a workout even I wouldn't attempt, she is in great shape!

She looks like she is in one of those endless pools where you swim against water jets.

My favorite part is watching her tail- each place she stops to check on the ball her little tail wags and wags!

Thanks for watching, Holly, Rene and Karen. Yes, she loves it – the faster the better (for her, that is, not for my grey hairs...) An endless pool would be a fine idea because if the worst comes to the worst at least they have ends, sometimes I have horrors of her winding up in the sea. She throws in the ball herself, to be clear, and there have been some VERY hairy throws where I've had to grab her quickly to stop her launching herself into a white water gorge. And yes, her tail always wags when she's making mischief. She's a monster, but then you know that...

I love it.  I wish we had something like that around here but ours are not like that at all.   Way to go Meg.

I love how she waits and waits until just the right minute lol

"Here ball, here ball!  Come to momma!  Here, over here!!!"

And then her thought bubble, "Screw it, I'll just jump in and get your round ass my own self!!!

I could watch this a thousand times and still find some little "Meg-A-Star nuance" that I hadn't  seen before.

OMD!   Seeing her swim upstream and barely moving....she didnt even care!  She had her ball and she was soaking wet  in rhe water!!!   Meg's nirvana!!

I can only imagine how her escapades  keep you on your toes.  She really, really, really is a SMART dog.  I saw in her blog where she learned how to outwit those games very quickly that  you give her to keep her occupied😎

Meg, we all adore you!!!!   You make is all so happy!!😂🤣😂🤣😂

LOVE!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

PS...Holly...purrfect WaterDog😁

Watching it yet again because I love it!  Does she do sort of a "frog kick" mixed with a "bicycle  kick"?

And as she's  swimming  against the current upstream, does she have one specific  exit point she prefers?.  Or is she just making the fun last as long as she can?

I also noticed when she swims that her head doesn't bob up and down nearly as much as Jerry's did when he swam. I wonder if it's because her body isn't as long as his was?

This is Jerry swimming without a Ruffwear Float Coat , back before we knew how beneficial it would be for him to use one (it also minimized the head bob so he took on less water):

See Clare we think alike!  From seeing this on Facebook my first thought was "wonder if that flows out to the sea?"  Ok Meg now Auntie Linda is going to tell you Swim responsibly!  No showing off.  Just little dips to work those core muscles a bit ok?  My heart can't take it!  Sending love to all of you!  ❤️❤️

Awww, thank you all for watching and for your lovely comments and Rene thanks for posting the video of handsome Jerry. Yes, I see what you mean about him bobbing up and down. It's kind of like the front-legger Tripawd hop, but in water. Meg doesn't really bob up and down at all. Maybe it is a length thing, though she is very long for her height she is obviously not as long as King Jerry. I always assumed it was cause she's half otter... We do have a float coat , you may remember. She wore it for a time after her amp, and she would wear it still were she swimming in the sea or a bigger (deeper) river, just for safety. But where we walk there are just so many little streams and pools and she's in and out of them constantly, so she'd basically have to wear it for her whole walk, which is a bit of an encumbrance. The handle on her webmaster harness is extremely useful for hoinking up steep banks etc., though actually she does remarkably well on her own.

It's always been a tricky balance with Meg between giving her the freedom I feel she needs to be satisfied and happy and the need to keep her safe and out of trouble. In the early days this was because of her behavioural issues, now it's more her physical ones. I decided a long time ago that I simply could not keep her on a lead all the time (I'm lucky in that it's normal for dogs to be offlead here, in parks, countryside etc.) and that in consequence I would have to accept there was going to be some level of risk in allowing her to live the life I wanted her to lead. While I have obviously done my best to minimise the risks (and have basically spent the last nine years in a state of hyper-vigilanceoh-my), I do acknowledge that inevitably the choices I've made for her do expose her to some. It's obviously a personal decision and depends on both the person and the dog (with Pie there wasn't an issue; she wasn't a trouble-magnet) but I do believe it was the right choice for us.

With the stream in the film, though it was swollen from the rain and had a fast current (ideal conditions from Meg's point of view), it's not actually very deep. I know, because I have wound up in it several times – the last only a couple of weeks ago.  It was around mid-thigh and FREEZING, but not remotely dangerous, and my boots, trousers, socks and all the rest dry out quite quickly by the fire. There's no two ways about it, life with the Megsta is a right royal pain in the rear end, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Thanks again for watching and lots of love to you all,

Meg, Clare and Angel Pie heartheartheart

Sorry, Sally – missed your second comment. Yes I believe they are planning to introduce the MegaSwimKick at the Tokyo Olympics. A frog on a bicycle would be a pretty accurate description.

And you're right, there are places where she finds it easier to get out, so she tends to swim along to them. The bit where she picks up the ball has thick brambles going down the bank for about 100 yards, so it's not such a great exit point (not that she hasn't tried it). Sometimes, she'll run down to beyond the brambles and wait there for the ball to come along...

❤️❤️❤️

I think you are doing a great job Clare 🙂   Meg loves her life and enjoys her swimming and I really think she plots to get you wet LOL.   I know not funny but I can see her just plotting it all out.

I guess I missed how she was swimming the first time watching her but she is amazing.  I honestly believe she does as well as she does for all the core work you do with her and all her chiropractic adjustments

Realky loved seeing Jerry going after those "twigs" with such vigor.  Liked his choice of background song too❤

I agree with Michelle Clare.  You are doing a GREAT job of giving Meg a stellar life of happiness, joy, adventure and love!!   You are sooooo tuned into who she is and what she needs to be fulfilled and true to who she is😎

And Meg is tuned into who you are and how devoted you are to her well being.  Meg has put a lot of effort into training  you and she knows you understand you are here to "serve and protect" her Royal Highness!😎

MegaSwimKick at the Olympics😂🤣  Frog on a bicycle!🤣😂 Can't wait!!
