Not sure things are getting better

he is definitely struggling on his remaining back leg, we are only letting him walk as far as he needs to for toiletting and a wee sniff around but he seems to be dropping far more on his back leg 🙁

Bummer. I know pulled muscles need a lot of recovery time. Ugh.

How's his overall attitude? Even though his leg is still weak, do the pain meds seem to help him be more comfortable??

Tha ks for keeping us updated. We're all cheering for handsome Jack!

Hugs!

He seems to be tired now, his waggy tail is still there but not as much, he is still very interested in things and seems happy in himself. Pain meds, I have to assume they are helping

i have a feeling that we are playing a waiting game now, is his leg going to give up entirely or recover? He tries to carry on as normal but his normal is not what it used to be

Okay, obviously not a Vet. All I can say from being on the site several years now, is that it's very rare that osteo goes from one leg to the other. Mets are the more common route and, sometimes can go to the spine.

I know the Vet said Jack's lungs didn't look as good as she would like, but felt like Jack's leg was a muscle issue, right? Lung mets can make a dog tire easily, but aren't generally painful per se.

I wish I had some answers for you. As the Vet said, maybe they coukd do a "conscious" xray, but on the spine and his leg. Has a pincned nerve been ruled out or an inflamed disc been ruled out? Knee issue or hip issue ruled out? Does Jack seem to have feeling in his foot/leg? Just throwing random stuff out there.

Check with your Vet Monday...or maybe even a second opinion. It could be that acupuncture woukd be really helpful.

Sending lots and love and healing energy

Tail is still wagging, when he isn't in pain or discomfort, but sadly it appears that he has lost use of the remaining back leg. The vet couldn't say why but suspects either a disc or possibly a tumour, certainly it is causing neurological damage and to find out what has caused that would mean some intrusive tests under anaesthetic which none of us feel is fair on him.

We will be saying goodbye to our beautiful brave boy later on today crying

Tears are flowing heavily here.  Im so so sorry!  I know there are no words to help you not be in such pain at this hardest time.  Your journey has ended much like ours did with Max and I know your pain of the last days and having to love him enough to let him go even though it broke your heart.   Jack dog was such an extreme Warrior!   He lived his life after amp with such gusto and joy.  He was an inspiration for so many that came after him and will continue to do so here.  Know your beautiful boy will be the brightest star in the sky shining his light and love down upon you from the heavens.  Fly high and climb those mountains at the bridge sweet boy! You have earned those Angel wings sweet Warrior.  Know this Tripawd nation sends you all our love and healing light on this hardest of days!

I am so very sorry to hear this. Although it hurts terribly right niw, you can take comfort that you gave him the ultimate gift of love. Tears here for you and all those who loved him.

Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
