Advice needed: booties for borzoi

Hi,

I have been looking for a rubber-soled booties for my borzoi for some time now without success, so I would much appreciate advice. Like sighthounds in general, my dog has very long, yet very narrow paws (hare-shaped). Most booties seem to be designed for “normal”-shaped paw, for instance all Ruffwear boots are too short for my dog’s paw. In addition, if I find booties that are long enough, they usually are far too wide for my dog.

My search might be hopeless, it may well be that there’s no suitable rubber-soled booties for dogs with long and narrow paws, but I would still like to ask if someone has managed to find perfect booties for their sighthound or any other dog with similar paws.

Interesting feedback about the Ruffwear boots, available in the Tripawds Gear blog – those are the best we've found for most dogs, but we'll need to keep searching. If you are just looking to help improve traction , consider Pawz Booties or Power Paws traction socks. See the traction post for details.

Hopefully others may have recommendations, we'll gladly consider adding any suggestions to the Tripawds gear shop.

I had to have booties custom made for my current Mastiff Julian because his feet have spread out as he has gotten older and they do not make standard ones wide enough.  I contacted Therapaw and had two nice booties made for about $70 each including shipping.  They are very sturdy and all you have to do is measure your dog's feet and fill out an online form.

Thank you for your replies!

The reason I'm looking for booties is that I would like my dog to have extra-protection from broken glass etc. He already has one toe missing from his only remaining front leg (due to injury, happened before the amputation of the other leg), so I really don't want anything to happen to that leg anymore.

Therapaw boots sounds promising. I need to examine them more closely.
