Jet has been taking Rimadyl for almost 2 years now and I'm beginning to be concerned about possible/probable liver damage it might cause. I see good and bad reviews on using Milk Thistle as a detox. He is currently taking Fish Oil, Vitamin E, and a a Glucosamine supplement. Does anyone use it? Any recommendations would be really appreciated. I've been unable to find a holistic vet in this area and my oncologist is more about more drugs - not less....
JETT!!! So good to hear from you!!! And HAPPY TWO YEAR AMPUVERSARY!!! And looking forward to many more! GREAT JOB!!
Has Jett had a blood lanel done to check his liver? If there is a need to take him off of it, I think (che d k with yiur vet please) Metacam or Meloxicam can be an alternative.
As far as Milk Thistle, my vet actually suggested it for one of my dogs who did have liver issues. I really couldn't say of it had any effect, but it certainly did no harm.
Again...NOT a vet, but I would think Milk Thistle could potentially add lover support while taking Rimadyl...but get
Professional opinion of course.
