This was shared by my vet's office.  They celebrated birthdays yesterday with this recipe.  I thought I would share it here it looks pretty good.  If you're looking for a yummy treat to celebrate your dog's birthday, obedience school graduation, or just the Dog Days of summer, try Dr. Ernie Ward's recipe for grain-free pup-cakes (see below!) Of course, if your pet is on any dietary restrictions, check with your veterinarian before allowing your chow-hound to chow down on these:

I am going to try it .

Grain-Free Pup-Cakes

You'll need:
1 cup of peanut butter
3 eggs
2 mashed bananas
1/2 cup coconut flour
1/4 cup plain yogurt
3/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp honey

Peanut Butter Icing
6 oz of light cream cheese
4 oz of creamy all natural peanut butter

To make this recipe:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line muffin pan with paper muffin cups. Mix peanut butter, eggs, bananas and honey. Add coconut flour and baking soda. Mix well. Fill muffin cups 3/4 of the way. Bake for 20-25 minutes. To make the icing, blend the cream cheese and peanut butter until creamy. Refrigerate the icing for 20 minutes. Let pup-cakes cool, then ice.

Makes approximately 12 pup-cakes. 200 calories each. (Pay attention to calorie count if your dog is on a diet, and keep in mind that treats should never make up more than 10% of your pet's daily caloric intake!)

It you swap out the peanut butter for almond butter there are almost "Paleo" treats! :-) Except for the yogurt and cream cheese. But definitely something yummy to make for celebrations! Thank you for sharing ... I see these in Jasper's future however since that is almost 1/2 her daily caloric intake in ONE treat, she'll probably get 1/4 of a treat and we can freeze the rest!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
