Head's up everypawdy, Honest Kitchen just had a recall as announced here on their website.
"Honest Kitchen Recall Announcement from Our President
February 21st, 2013 by The Honest Kitchen
Dear Honest Kitchen Customer,
I’m writing to inform you that today we are voluntarily recalling five lots of our Verve, Zeal and Thrive products, which were produced between August and November 2012 and sold nationwide in the US and Canada via retail stores, mail order and online after August 2012. We are taking this precautionary action after learning that one of our raw ingredients suppliers has recalled a batch of human-grade parsley that has the potential to contain Salmonella. The batch of parsley was shipped to us in 2012 and used in the five lots of finished Honest Kitchen products. We’ve included specific details about which lots are being recalled, directions on how you can obtain a full refund for the affected lots, and information on the potential effects of Salmonella in our official recall press release."
We still believe that Honest Kitchen is one of the very best foods for cats and dogs and commend them for being so proactive. Read more about this recall from The Honest Kitchen.

Jones Natural Chews Recalls Woofers Beef Patties for Dogs
Jones Natural Chews Company of Rockford, Illinoishas announced it is recalling 245 boxes of Woofers (beef patties) because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.
The affected treats were distributed in:
- Arizona
- California
- Colorado
- Pennsylvania
- Virginia
- Wisconsin
The products were shipped to distributors and retailers between November 1, 2012 and November 12, 2012.
"What we find particularly disturbing here is that the affected products were shipped in boxes containing 50 patties each. What's worse, the company states the patties "may be sold individually". Does this mean the contaminated items could have been removed from their original packaging and sold (unmarked) in bins to unsuspecting consumers? For more information, please visit the link below. And be sure to share the news of this event with other dog owners, too."

Thanks for sharing this Teena. I wish I knew what was going on, so many of these brands are just fantastic quality food. I'm hoping it's just a matter of better inspections these days.

Everyone is doing better quality control these days and being more proactive to prevent dogs from getting sick. The recent recalls involving Honest Kitchen, Natura products, and some raw diets have not caused any dogs to get sick but the companies identified some suspect food samples so then everything produced on the line that day gets recalled.
