Question for folks...

Mojo is over her dry kibble but eating it even though I thoroughly cover it with wet (she is eating both) and since we are almost finished with the bag of kibble I was thinking of switching her to a different dry kibble versus buying another 40lb bag of the same. I had asked her regular vet back around when she turned 11 if I should switch from a regular adult weight control food to a senior food and the vet said that Senior and Weight Control foods just have a lower protein content so she would be fine to just stay on the Weight Control. I’m looking for another low protein kibble (her current kibble is a weight control has a minimum of 20% crude protein). Any suggestions?

Oh thank you so much for starting this topic, much appreciated!

So I guess the question is, you'd like a different weight control, low protein kibble? What is the brand she is eating now?

Yes, even SouthPaws confirmed that a low protein or weight management kibble would be beneficial for her given her "senior" status. They recommended either Hills Science Diet or Royal Canin since those brands are veterinary tested. I think Royal Canin's is Rx (at Petsmart/Banfield it is). Since I got Mojo she has been on the Kirkland Weight Control from Costco....she weighed about 75lbs and got table scraps from her previous owner so I got her trimmed down to a healthy girth.

For the past two meals she has eaten ALL of her wetted-down dry kibble with a little bit of Blue Buffalo's canned Homestyle Chicken mixed in. For now we will stick with this since it seems to be working for the most part and at least until we can get thru the remainder of the bag of dry kibble. Always welcome suggestions as who knows when we might need to make the change.

Well that sounds like a reasonable approach if she's eating right now.

I've heard that the Costco Kirkland brands are generic versions of brand names. Glad to hear it's been good to her.
