I have to be brief or I will bawl all over again…

We let Marley go on 10/30. We left for Disney with our 3 kids 2 days later and then moved 5 days after that so I just now have a chance to post. The cancer came back in her belly – a tumor that doubled in size in just 2 weeks. It turned hard and started seeping through her skin! I knew the end was near and I wanted to let her go BEFORE she was in any real pain. The tumor was making her a little lopsided since it was putting additional weight on her amp side. We were leaving for a week and I couldn't bear the thought of not being there if she all of a sudden was in horrible pain. I of course would fly back if I could in time.

Our vet came to the house. She was on her bed in front of the fireplace. I had my arm under her head. When her head fell limp I bawled like a small child. I honestly did not realize how hard it would be.

I know we did all we could for her so I feel good about that. She had just turned 13 in Sept. Amazing how well she did with 3 legs! The last day I took her to the beach and she was running like any 4 legger! We didn't give up on her; we just knew it was time so finally had to let her go. I could not bear for her to be in pain! They said she had 4-6 months and she made it almost 9 months since her surgery. Thanks again to all of you for your support. We owe these very special 9 months to you…

I am so sorry to hear the news about Marley.  Nine months is a lot of extra days to be thankful for. The decision to let go is never an easy one, and it is never made without lots of soul searching. We must let them go when we know the time is right.  It sounds like that is exactly what you did for Marley.  Peace be with you as the happy memories replace the heavy heart you feel now.

RIP sweet Marley.  Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

We are so sorry that Marley's time came, thanks for letting us know. No, you didin't give up on her at all, you did exactly what Marley hoped you would do; be her best friend till the end, by helping her out of her pain. It's terribly hard, but at the same time, one of greatestest gifts we can give our animal companions.

What an amazing girl, thirteen years old and nine months as a Tripawd is pretty awesome. You done good, and so did she.

She will always be looked up to as a real inspawration here! May her spirit shine on forever.

Many hugs,

Rene, Jim, Wyatt Ray & Spirit Jerry

I am so sorry about Marley. She certainly did beat the odds for her type of cancer! We had to let Tazzie go about the same time (10/18) so I definitely feel your pain.

I am so sorry to hear about Marley and agree that you did not give up on her.  Letting her go was the last thing you could do for her.  We had to make the same decision for our Emily on November 10 so I know the pain you are going through.  Please accept my condolences on your loss.

Those 9 months were a gift to you and Marley both! I am sorry to hear you news. I am glad that you were with her and that you were able to have her at home.  I hope all the good memories of 13 years will shine and the end will fade away.

Marley was blessed to have a loving family, sending you care and support,

I'm so sorry about Marley.  I am glad that you got to have all that time with her though--my dog turned 13 a month before yours so I know how lucky we are for how long and full our pup's lives got to be, which sadly is not always the case with cancer onset.  You were very brave and kindhearted for releasing her when you did.  I bet she's happy and running fast on an even better beach now.

We would like to express how sorry we are at the loss of Marley.  No matter how long we have with them, our time with these brave warriors is to little.  When we are confronted with the diagnosis, it feels like the world has just come down around our ears.  The fact that Marley extended that early prognosis is a testimant to your effort, your love, and Marley's desire to remain.  Marley certainly enjoyed an excellent quality of life and now awaits across the Rainbow Bridge till that joyous day of reunion.

Please accept our deepest sympathy.

I'm soooo sorry for your loss. She had 9 more wonderful months because of all your love and devotion. It's never easy to make that decision and yes, when the reality of it finally happens, it is overwhelming and I think we all turn child-like in our sobs and grief. If we didn't love so deeply, it wouldn't hurt so deeply.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you -

Peace,

Love Heather and Spirit Zeus

I'm so sorry that you had to let Marley go... My heart goes out to you during this very sad time. Crying But you gave her an additional 9 wonderful months with you... and now she can run cancer-free in heaven. I lost my Jake on 11/9... so I know what sorrow you're feeling. No matter how much extra time you had with her, it just doesn't seem enough, does it?

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers...

I'm so sorry to hear about Marley.  It is a terrible moment, but hopefully you were able to find some peace in it as we did when we had to release Tika from her broken body.

My thoughts to you and your family.
