Hi Friends,

So my Emmie boy has been gone for quite a few months now. I haven't been able to talk about it, and people who aren't in my immediate circle don't even know that he's gone ... there are many ways in which I wish I could have been better or done more or made different decisions through my guy's cancer journey.

Even though all of my overthinking and sadness I'm glad that I let him go when I did ....

I came across a TED talk about euthanasia... and how it is an act of love. The talk also explains how this act of love has a long-lasting emotional impact (which is *exactly* what I'm dealing with).  So, I wanted to share this video ... it has helped me reframe all of the grief that I'm still feeling.

Oh Kim! I'm so very, very sorry. I know how hard you fought for Emerson and it breaks my heart knowing that he got his wings. Please don't beat yourself up for anything, you did sooooo much for him and gave him a great quality of life after his diagnosis. He knew that! When and if you are up to it, please share more about him here so we can celebrate his life OK?

Thank you for sharing the video. I need to run now but have it open in my browser and will watch it tonight. Back with some thoughts....

(((((hugs)))))

THank you for this.  I am in agony trying to decide the fate of my 8 yr old Golden Retreiver, aka best friend. She has cancer in her foot, and the choice is to amputate or put her down.  Due to her age and having already been through 2 prior surgeries, it's an impossible decision to make!  Im sorry for what you had to go through.

I'm soo sorry ... it's just such of an impossible decision.

After going through 2 agonizing cases of canine cancer in less than 5 years... i've resolved to believing that  day or two too early ... is better than a day too late.

All of my fur babies, were too pure, too wonderful... too perfect to allow them to suffer. I'd rather be in the situation that i'm in now, that to allow them another day of discomfort in their failing bodies.

People always say that you'll know when it's time. And, it's hard to comprehend it before hand... but, when you get there... you'll know.

I'm soo sorry that you're going through this. it's impossible. it's unfair.

Oh man, grab a box of tissues, this one is a tear-jerker. I'm glad I watched it though, thanks Kim.
