Our beautiful Gus crossed the Rainbow Bridge this morning. His vet felt that he had a massive heart attack. We will miss him terribly, but we also know that he is no longer in any pain.
Run free, Gentleman Gus.
Kathi, Garry and Murphy
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Kathi, so sorry to hear about precious Gus. My deepest sympathies are with you. Losing our furbabies is so hard. He was certainly a handsome boy and had an amazing life with you. Run free Gus! Hugs from, Lori, TY, C, L and Daryl

She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
So sorry that you had to say bye to your boy Gus. My Bruno and all the Tripawds that crossed over before will keep him company until you meet again. Stay strong.

Thank you to each and every one of you for your kind and thoughtful comments. We are all doing as well as could be expected tonight...Murphy appears to be doing the best. I do feel that our pups deal with the loss of a friend if they see them, rather than if the buddy just disappears. Murphy kissed Gus goodbye, sniffed at him and was satisfied that he knew what happened.
It is still hard to come to terms with. Gus went out and brought in the paper this morning just like he always did, ate a good breakfast and four hours later, he was gone. We did get him in to the vet's office before he got too bad, but by that time all we were able to do for him was administer oxygen and help him run for the bridge. Already there is a big, hairy void next to the couch.
Again, thanks to you all.

So sorry for your loss. His physical presence will be deeply missed but he will live forever in your hearts.
RIP Gus!
Our awesome Golden Boy was diagnosed for OSA in April 2014 in the proximal humerus, front-leg amp on 05/20/2014. Finished chemo (Carbo6) on 07/10/2014. Ongoing treatment: acupuncture + K-9 Immunity Plus ( 3chews) and home-cooked no-grain diet. Stopped Apocaps because of liver issues. Liver issues: controlling altered enzymes with SAM-e and Milk Thistle. October 17: started having seizures. Taking fenobarbital for seizures. April 18: started prednisone.
Kathi and Garry,
I just saw this, I'm sorry that Gus has left. I suppose the good is that it was quick, but that is little solace now. And I'm glad that Murphy got to say good-bye or what ever dogs do, much easier on him to know what happened to his buddy. I know that even though I still had Tani at home there was a huge void when Maggie left. The pack was only one smaller, but it seemed much bigger than that.
I know the wonderful memories of that beautiful face will provide some strength and comfort for you guys as you go through then next days and weeks. Gus will always be with you.

Kathi, Garry and Murphy, wow, I just saw this too and am really, really sorry. What an awful shock.
It's just so hard to believe that a big, lovable presence in our life can be gone in a flash like that. My heart aches for you all. I hope that you can take comfort knowing that he didn't suffer one bit and left this earth knowing how much he was loved, and what a great life you gave him. Murphy must be missing him so much.
May Gus have all the cake he wants in heaven. We will miss your adorable videos of him and Murphy.
