Hey Micki,

I was just thinking of how amazing it is that you got to see the shooting star.  You know how it is around here, so many cloudy days, the only time I have ever seen that type of thing was in eastern Wa, when there was a meteor shower.

I think you really got a sign from the Woo.

When my girl Shy was put down, I was just going through the motions for that week.  I took my mind off of her because it was too painful to contemplate.  The following week I just seemed to realize that I would never touch her again, get a chance to rub her ears.  After that sorrow passed, I started thinking of her goofy moments and sweet personality and then I started healing.  I miss her still, but it isn't as sharply painful as it was.  I think it was about 3 months before I stopped looking to call her back into the house after everyone went on their potty breaks.

What I am trying to say is I can only guess how you are feeling, having loved and lost too.  I just want you to know that we are thinking of you, hoping you are okay.

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us.  Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.

Dear Angel Rio,

I hope you will forgive me calling you names and making fun of you. And also for putting words in your over-sized pink lips. I really kinda liked you.  I am sad that you had to go to doggie heaven.

I'll miss you.  A lot.

Micki, I am so sorry that I am late on this. I sometimes hesitate to get on the site because I can't stand to hear that another one of the Tripawd gang lost the fight. My tears tonight are for you and your family, our Sammy and every other dog and family subjected to this terrible, hateful disease.

Rio, running pain-free and happy, will wait for you on the other side of the bridge. She knows how much you loved her.

Wishing you peace and happy memories of sweet Rio —

Beth and Spirit Smilin' Sammy

Smilin' Sammy, March 16, 2004 – Dec. 5, 2011
Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.

We loved him even more.
Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.

Oh no ... ... Micki, I just logged in for the first time in a few days and saw this.  We always thought special thoughts and good wishes and thank you's for Rio for all the advice she (and you) shared with us.  We are so very sorry.
