Hi everyone. Last Friday was 5 months since we lost Max. That day, as I thought about all of the things that he went through, all of the trips to the vet and all of the days and nights I spent worrying and wondering what to do, I also realized how lucky I am. Before Max got to his last days we were lucky enough to have his nephew Luke come into our lives. He and Max spent several weeks together and I know in my heart that it was Max's way of saying goodbye and "I leave you with this to remind you of me".

So…now, Luke will be 8 mo old November 17. He is a typical adolescent..into as much trouble as he can find and even talks back sometimes! A chip off of the old block because his uncle did the same.

In memory and in honor of Max, Id like you all to meet Luke……..there are a couple of us on the site that fondly refer to him as "Bat Boy" but thats a story for another time.

Hugs to all and know that you are in our hearts!

Hey Luke! Sounds like you're in good hands! And we know all about the "talking back", Mercy has mastered the art. She also learned to sneeze when she wants your food somewhere along the line.

It was nice to meet you Luke, you are a lucky boy to have a family that will love you and alway be at your side during the good and hopfully never the bad in your life. We lost our Sadie in a terrible car accident that left a huge hole in our hearts for several years and then we rescued Tasha, in many ways she saved us as much as we saved her. I am sure that Luke has helped to fill that hole in your hearts. Have fun with Luke. icon_lol

Tasha 8 years old, First cancer diagnosis 6/26/09, Last cancer diagnosis 9/26/09, Amputation 10/01/09, Loving our girl moment by moment.

Tasha lost her battle and became my Angel on May 4 2011. Forever in my heart….

Paula, Spirit Max and Luke

What anextremely handsome young man.  It is wonderful that you have filled your emptiness with Luke.  We know that he will develop his own personality, create new and wonderful memories, but he also will let you remember your wonderful Max with a smile and not just feel the canyon of loneliness.  He has big Paw-Prints to fill, but with your help and Max spirit, Luke will be a great companion.

We are so very happy for all.

Howdy Luke, you are one handsome fella. It's good to cause a little trouble once in a while, it keeps your mom on her toes!

What a marvelous story, we know he will help you to heal and create new and special memories.

Congratulations!

Oh Luke!!! You are SUCH a puppy! Your fur is sooo beautiful and shiny, and you obviously have a while before you grow into those big paws. We love that photo.

It's hard to believe it's been five whole months since Max said goodbye. Well, he didn't really leave, did he? We know he's still guiding you, trying to show you how to be a good dawg, and be good to your pawrents. I'll bet you don't have any problem doing that though, do you?

Paula, enjoy every minute of this boy's youthful exhuberance. We understand the puppy thing completely as we cope with Wyatt Ray's youthfulness over here. Every time he chews up something he's not supposed to, we just keep telling ourselves, "he's only a puppy once!"

It's so good to hear from you. Thank you for the update!!!
