My heart breaks as I tell you that Karl lost his battle with cancer on Thursday November 24, Thanksgiving here in America. He had an amputation in early March 2016 and at that time also had a mast cell tumor removed. He went through the Carboplatin chemo without any serious problems, We had a great summer with lots of time in the sun and at the beach. But early Sept he had developed strange acute pain and then we found that he had 2 large mast cell tumors which were removed ina surgery that was more serious and complex than expected. The tumors didn't get removed with clean margins so he had to receive additional chemo. We chose Palladia and he was feeling pretty good for a couple of weeks until another tumor which was very large returned and we were in over our heads. He had a great walk the Monday before his death. He took me to one of his favorite parks and his doggie friends house. It wasn't the Osteo that got him, it was the mast cell tumors. Weird. Thank you everyone who has been there for us, this site is a God send!

I am so sorry to hear about Karl.  This is the hardest gift that we can give our babies.  We still want them with us but know its for them that we let them go.  It is also the hardest part of our journey.   Run Free Karl til you meet your people at the Bridge.

I am so sorry to hear this and I remember your lovely Karl.  Wishing you comfort in knowing you did so much to give him more time and happy, quality time.  And wishing Karl the sweetest dreams.

Pofi also succumbed to cancer a month before Karl when Palladia, which worked for a while, ceased working and his STS came back with a super fast growing tumor in his spine.  But like Karl, he was blessed to enjoy one last wonderful summer and I am so glad for them both on that count.

Lisa, Minneapolis

On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly.  His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.

Oh nooo! Not Karl! Soooooo many of our family have headed to the Bridge almost non-stop the last several months. And now our precious Karl.

Tears are flowing. I KNOW this was brutal for you to write tonight, but thank you for letting us know. Karl is very special to us.

That boy ALWAYS did things his way! It's just like Karl to make sure you and he both had such a great day that Monday. He wanted to leave you with that hapoy memory and he wanted to take to the Bridge with him. Yeah, that was quite a gift for both of you.

You did EVERYTHING POSSIBLE for your Karl and he knew it! And ya' know what? Karl was victorious over thst crap osteo!! That's not what took him and that makes Karl a true legendary hero around here!!

This part is sooo rough for the humans left behind. The void, the break in routine of caring for your tripawd, it all stinks. As hard as it is right now, just know that all the thousands and thousands of happy times you and Karl shared will eventually push the sadness further into the background.

Everyone here who has go e through this part of the journey will tell yiu that Karl WILL connect with you. He will make his presence known!! Pay attention. It will nallen!

When you can, we would love to jear more about Karl. We already know he is an inspiration here for anyone starting this journey, but we want to hear more! And with pictures!

Please stay connected and let us know how you are doing. We know you are ddevastated right now, and will be for awhile. We do find that sharing some stories a out our furbabies does help.

Karl is running free now feeling fit and healthy! He wants you to know that.

Surrounding you with Karl's grace and smiling mug!

I'm sorry Karl has crossed.

You did your best for your boy, mast cell cancer is so unpredictable.

I hope the memories of the good times will help ease the pain of grief over the coming days and weeks.  Karl will always live in your heart.

I'm so terribly sorry to hear about sweet Karl. I'm so pleased that you were able to give him a lovely summer in the sun with lots of time at the beach, and that you enjoyed a last walk together to one of his favourite parks. This was a dog who knew how to live and to relish the good things in life! My heart goes out to you in your loss.

Sending love,

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Ohhhhhh my gosh, I'm really sorry. I know your pack put in such a great fight. Never forget that no matter how badly the cancer behaved, Karl had a great life before and during his cancer journey. No dog could ever ask for more attentive, loving and conscientious humans. All that love you gave him throughout his life will come back a thousand times over and guide you in your own life, until you meet again.

Run, play and be free Karl. You will be missed but never forgotten.

I am so so sorry you had to let Karl go.  You gave him the greatest life and left no stone unturned to treat him in this evil cancer.  Then you gave him the last but greatest gift you had left to give even though it broke your heart.  Know we all grieve with you.  Fly free new Angel Karl.  May Karl's healing light reach out from the heavens to you.  Our Angels never leave us they remain a part of us always.  Much love at this hardest of times.
