you really don’t realize how much of your life they filled until they’re gone
So,painfully true. You had Zoey by uour side for seventeen years 24/7. The void, the broken routines, the daily habits with Zoey no longer there......yeah,l we get it.
Gonna paraphrase what one of our members Suzanne, sweet gentle giant Nicholas 's Mom, posted I. Sh e said that ten years from now she wouldn't necessarily remember what day or month Nicky died. Rather she'll remember that he had a fun and Hapoy life; an active and useful life amd he was loved every day of his life
One other little sentiment that resonated with me was from Rose Kennedy.
It has been said,
'time heals all wounds.'
I do not agree. The wounds
remain. In time, the mind,
(protecting its sanity), covers
them with scar tissue and the
pain lessens. But it is
99
never gone."

I still have many "things" of my dogs who have transitioned. One member made a little "garden of forget-me-not flowers" in her dog's food bowl.
