Hey, I just wanted to share that Emily would have turned six on this Tuesday.
Today is two months since she died.
This week is not going to be my best but I am so grateful for the 5+ years we had with her. Even with the pain I am feeling now, I know that if I had to do it again I would still bring that little doggy shivering under the gas meter home with me. I am so thankful that my son kept urging me to go out and look at her. She didn't stay little, that's for sure! Emily Grace was a blessing and I am so glad I had her.
Debra
Debra & Emily, a five year old doberman mix, who was diagnosed with an osteosaecoma. She had a right rear leg amputation on May 19, 2009. On November 10, 2009 she earned her wings and regained her fourth leg.
Bless you for saving her. I can picture her as you describe. So, did you make up her birthday? I did that with my rescue bully Betty, she deserves to celebrate a birthday and inherited Raven's last month. 🙂 Hang in there as I know that dates like these are so tough. Heck, every day without them is tough, but these milestones can be even harder. You are in my prayers.

Hi Debra
You're in my prayers too. I know how tough the milestone days are.
I gave my rescue Mujde a birthday too, and made it public when I took her to the vet last Saturday. When I first read about her in rescue at the end of June, she was 2. When I finally got her in August, her vet papers said she was 3. So I figure her birthday is July 22. July because it's between June and August and 22nd because it was my basenji Sommer who sent her and Sommer's birthday was Dec 22. Funny the things we do to make something special for our babies.

Debra,
I did not think that my respect and love for you could grow any more, but it just did. What an amazing story. I am sure that as Ginny said about Paris, (I paraphrase but needed to provide the credit) it was more Emily Grace rescued you than you rescued Emily Grace. If you will permit me, this Tuesday as I feel the end of my two weeks, I will also remember Emily and give thanks that you two met under the gas meter.
I will also give thanks that Raven is still here with us. Thank goodness that I do not wait until the end of the day to give thanks, it would literaly take hours.

What a wonderful life you gave Emily. Thank you for sending the photos. I'll post the other two in the Spirit Tripawds Photo Tribute topic.

That is indeed Miss Emily in the picture. I call that one Emily smiling. Jim was kind enough to put two others in the Coping With Loss Section. It is certainly a different aspect of her personality than the one on the couch that is my avatar! We did, in fact, pick a birthday for Emily. Two weeks after we brought her home and no one claimed her we took her to the vet for her shots. Based on her teeth, some baby and some adult, the vet guessed her at 17 weeks and we ounted back and got Jan. 12.
Dawn, I think she may have been part Rott and part Doberman but we really don't know.
She sure was a sweetie.

I did a double-take on that photo. Whether part Dobe or part Rott or part both, Gerry definitely shares that part. Gerry sends belated kisses to you.
Gerry has been a tripawd since 12/16/2009.
He was a shelter dog with a mysterious past and an irrepairable knee injury.

Debra, I know you're missing her as you share her birthday with us. I'm missing her too! The picture is priceless. What a pretty princess she is. Happy Birthday, spirit Emily. You're in our hearts this week.

Debra,
Emily was truly gorgeous in that photo and I absolutely love her smile. My "Bowser" smiles like that all of the time, he is my Black and Tan Coonhound. It is so sweet when a beloved pet greets you with a beautiful smile like that and you know that it is for no one else but YOU!!! Debra, my heart goes out to you and I will be thinking about you and Angel Emily on Tuesday. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
God Bless, Mary and Guardian Angel Angus
Debra,
Emily is beautiful, loved her pictures. I see Dobie and Rottie in her, what a wonderful mix that is. My thoughts are with you during this time.
