I am so sorry to hear about your sweet pup Dakota. And how stressful that must have been for you being away from him at that time. I'm glad that you were able to have 14 years together and I hope that you take comfort in all of the happy memories you surely have.
Michelle
we're so sorry to hear of dakota's passing, sounds like he loved you so much, it had to be terrible to let him go. you gave him a final gift, ending the suffering of a broken body. remember that love never ends.

Love Never Ends
We are so sorry for your loss of Dakota . . . What a huge hole his passing leaves after being part of your life for 14 years, but how many wonderful memories I'm sure he's left you with to begin to try to fill the hole. Our sympathies are with you as you make your way through this dark time.

Sweet Silly Sylvie, the Old English Sheepdog
Diagnosed with osteosarcoma 11/04/2010 at almost 7 years of age * Left hind leg amputated 11/09/2010 * Chemo on 12/10, 12/17, 01/10, 01/31
Sweet Sylvie's earthly journey ended on Nov. 3, 2011, one day short of a year since her diagnosis and 6 days short of her one-year ampuversary. Her family celebrates her life as a sheepdog – ever the puppy, ever silly, ever sweet – and are grateful for our 7 years together.
Our hearts go out to you and your family, we are so sorry to hear this sad news.
We know it's so hard to cope with the emptiness, but we hope the memories you shared will bring you peace as you adjust. Try to take comfort in knowing that his story will continue to help others here for a long, long time.
May Dakota run free and out of pain forever with all of our Spirit Tripawd heroes.
Run free, Dakota.

Run free Dakota. You have truly been blessed to have enjoyed 14 years with such a loving family. Thanks for being such a great companion and for keeping watch over your humans through all of their ups and downs. Please give lots of licks and tail wags to Tai and all of our other Tripawd heroes who are undoubtedly there to greet you.

Tai – 9 yr old lab. Diagnosed Osteosarcoma Dec 18/09. Front right leg amputated Dec 21/09. Started chemo Jan 7/10. Lung mets discovered Sept 16/10. Valiant to the end on Oct 26/10 when cancer reappeared in a leg and we made the decision to set her free. Forever in my heart where not even cancer can take her from me.
So sorry to hear about Dakota - 14 years feels like a lifetime (as in, I couldn't remember life before Zack) and it leaves a big emptiness once they're gone.
Take solace in the fact that you were there at the end and Dakota went out on his terms.
Zack and all of the other angel tripawds will make sure Dakota stays busy.
Zack, King of Dogs, 1996 to 2010
Zack lived a full 14 years, even to the end.
The joy and memories he provided us will last a lifetime.
Surviving him is his sister, Izzy, a 12-year-old boxer mix quadpawd.
And the latest addition, Zula, an 11-month-old pit bull mix tripawd.
I'm so sorry to hear about Dakota... My heart aches for you right now... Sending you and your family a bit hug!!
Rest in peace sweat Dakota!!

"Going Dog" def: living every day in the moment
"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are."
–Unknown
It is so tragic when we have to let go of the ones we love. May you find the strength to focus on the good things, the long time you spent with him, the fierce battle that was fought and the extra time you gleaned from the fight. We send you our warm thoughts good wishes.
